Who is your most and lease favorite Actor or Actress ?

Good call on Hackman. The best supporting actor of all time. Someone should really make a film for him to star in before he's gone.

He is 91 and retired from movies. Clint Eastwood is about to come out with yet another movie and he is in his 90s. I loved Newman, McQueen, Beatty, Nicholson, Brando and their movies in the 60s through the 80s. It was The time if the anti-hero.

These days I've moved on to Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. I try to see all of their stuff.

I think Tom Hanks has to be at the top of my favorites for the depth and breadth of his roles. Least favorite Sean Penn. honorable mention favorite to Tyler Perry as Madea. Any 6'5 dude who can play a woman as convincingly and as funny as he is is a good actor

Looking forward to Hanks playing the Colonel in the upcoming Elvis biopic. 2022 release.

Paul Newman Most
Meryl Streep Least
Hard to nail that down because I like so many movies

Favorite
Kurt Russell; followed by Sandra Bullock, Sam L Jackson, and Ryan Reynolds

Worst
Jennifer Lopez; followed by Matthew Perry and Amber Heard.

Feel dirty only naming a few of my favorites. There's at least 20 actors/actresses that are all around the same level for me.

I didn't realize until I looked at his Wikipedia entry he has been retired frim acting since 2004.

Sounds like a lot of us agree that Eastwood , Denzel, Hackman, Hanks are great actors. Sean Penn and Julia Roberts are not favorites.

Most favorite would Jimmy Stewart (old timer) and Tom Hanks (current)
Agreed. I think Tom Hanks is the Jimmy Stewart of this generation. They may not be the most versatile actors ever, but they both play the all-American everyman good-guy about as well as can be done.

I'm also a big fan of Robert Duvall - he's another that plays pretty much the same character every time, but I like that character. Denzel Washington hits a lot of home runs as well.

As far as the _best_ current actor (not necessarily my favorite), I've got to go with Daniel Day Lewis.

Favorite supporting/character actor: Christopher Walken

Least Favorite: I don't understand why Ben Affleck is a star. His "it factor" escapes me.

Greatest of all time

I can't believe more people don't have Hanoi Jane Fonda as least favorite. Only was an actress because of her dad Henry Fonda who was a great actor. She was terrible. Anyone ever watch Barbarella? One of the worst acting jobs of all time. Henry carried her through On Golden Pond, and she still stunk it up.

LOL. I said Jonah Hill. He and Rogen are basically interchangeable like the way Kevin Costner and Dennis Quaid are interchangeable, though I don't consider Quaid and Costner two bad actors. My daughter calls them the "sad dad" actors.

dude, if you think Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen are interchangeable, you need to watch more Jonah Hill movies. He was absolutely outstanding in “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Moneyball”. Probably deserved Oscars for both. Seth Rogen wouldn’t have pulled off either of those roles. Jonah Hill is an excellent actor who doesn’t get a ton of great roles because, honestly, he’s nothing to look at. But he’s a far better actor than Seth Rogen.

Robin Williams was a very underrated actor. A great one that hasn’t been mentioned yet. I like a good Mel Gibson movie too….even if in real life he’s crazy.
Hard to argue with Tom Hanks either.

I don’t know if I HATE an actor/actress, but I never thought much of Val Kilmer.

Lord only knows how much I despite Hanoi Jane.

Sorry, he does nothing for me

To be fair, not many were watching for the thespian component. ;)

I tell ya another one is Timothy Olyphant . He seems to kinda play the same character in every show but I love pretty much every show he’s in . “Justified” and “Deadwood” were two of my all time favorites. Speaking of Justified another great under the radar actor is Walton Goggins . Anybody that can go from playing a badass hillbilly gangster to a transvestite hooker (Venus on Sons of Anarchy) is a pretty versatile actor .

Favorite Male: Tom Hanks, Denzel, Tom Hardy
Favorite Female: Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron

Favorites: Edward Everett Horton, Victor McLaglen, and Walter Brennan (first actor to get three Academy Awards)

If you don't know McLaglen, his story is legendary. Fought heavy weight champ Jack Jackson in boxing, was Provost Marshall of Baghdad during WWI, won best actor for The Informer, and was probably the only actor John Ford favored even more than John Wayne.

Least favorite: most of current day actors except maybe a few nice guys like Chris Pratt.

And, you are correct regarding Roberts. She is a snobby b&^%$ and it shows.

Lyle Lovett's song One-Eyed Fiona is clearly about Julia Roberts (her real middle name is Fiona)

Fiona Lyrics

Way down yonder on the bayou
There lives a little girl-o
Skin so pale
Six feet high
Skinny as a rail
Just one eye

She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona

Her daddy gone to heaven
Her mama won't like you
Her brother he's crazy
He just might bite you
Her sister she's pretty
But she just won't do

She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona

Oh you can say she gonna love you
Because you made a little voodoo
Oh but what they didn't tell you
Is it ain't up to you dude

You better not cross her
You try to boss her
Then you better duck Mister
Here come a cup and saucer

She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona
She's the one-eyed Fiona

So if you're going to the bayou
Man I'll tell you all I know
She's got skin so pale
She's six feet high
And she'll look right through you
With just one eye

So you haven't seen The French Connection? He stars in that movie and got the Best Actor Academy Award for his starring role.

Favorite - Philip Seymour Hoffman

Least - this is more difficult bc there are a ton of bad actors out there. Sean Penn is a stellar actor and there are folks on here saying he’s their least favorite. So it seems that the criteria for least favorite is someone very famous who you don’t like. I’ll have to give this one some more thought.

Both of those are superb actors.

Top: Daniel Day Lewis {There Will Be Blood, Lincoln} & Christian Bale {Big Short, American Psycho}

Everyday: Denzel Washington, Matt Damon {Both typically choose good projects and have a unique ability to fuse their offscreen personality with their onscreen character.}

Worst: Paris Hilton and 95% of "new" Hollywood

You know Goggins is an excellent clogger, right? Grew up doing some form of river dance. A TV clip from him dancing and singing "Ain't Misbehaving". I crack up every time I hear the line "running through the house with a pickle in my mouth".
