This program is underneath the dumpster. Pay up hire a good coach and start over. Maneri isn’t the answer, time to admit he was a bad hire.

I feel like we have been chasing our tail here. But on the flip side we have a young coach taking over a squandering softball program and instantly producing a top 10 team out of the best softball conference in the country. Go figure

This program being a "Dumpster Fire" would almost be normal for a SC program, HOWEVER, This program won back to back national Titles and was almost in the "DYNASTY" conversation, now this "TEAM" (i use that term lightly) will be, like the Basketball program, LAST in SEC.. They very well may not win an SEC series, It definitely doesnt get any easier..

Mainieri has an impressive record, it's his first year and he's playing with Kingston's boys, how in the world can people say he can't coach.
You can hire a guy who is a really good coach but that doesn't guarantee success. At his age is he ready to do a complete rebuild almost from scratch?? How many guys on our team would start at other SEC schools right now??

Petry would start anywhere. That’s about it.

How many Times has this team had Players on Third with less than ONE OUT and didnt score ( at least many with Bases loaded no out)?? You have to attribute that to coaching. A good coach should be able to somehow scratch , claw, or fight that runner home!!

Idk if he is or not but to call for his firing in the middle of year 1 is ridiculous.

WRONG, This season is OVER, FIRE him. Not sure if "Every team" makes teh SEC tourney, if not, this team WILL NOT make it!!
The season was over no matter who had come in to coach, Kingston completely ran the program down, even further than Holbrook. They have no relief pitchers, how is that Mainieri's fault? Who is gonna come coach here if you fire coaches after one year, or in the middle of the year?

Like I said Earlier, I think I could win a Game leading 12-2 or Up 5 going into bottom of Ninth!! This is just ONE Example..

There is something to be said for that. I dont watch a lot of MLB but I've seen a lot of you tube videos lately where guys are having a tough time hitting pitchers who aren't pitchers. The non-pitchers stats are surprising good on the mound. So much so that I have heard something about them trying to make it illegal to pitch a non-pitcher. Kinda funny

So they win the first two games in a series and look pretty good doing it and then not to be outdone go into the third game and commence to pitching the worse inning this year. Dang these guys make themselves hard to pull for,

I was watching the ladies softball on my phone. Can’t stomach the men’s.
I ended up watching the ladies as well. Fun to watch a good team. That horrible inning was the first. Truth is the game was over before they could get the first out.

That first inning may have hurt their chances of hosting a super!!! ROFLMAO
We had Stone go the distance in the first game. I believe we only used two pitchers in the 2nd game. Moral of that story was dont be so quick to go to the bull pen and maybe we are a better team. Then the 3rd game blows that theory right out of the water. smdh

I did enjoy the commentary by Mike Morgan and Ray Tanner.
I did too. Interesting to hear some of the things Tanner wasn't really a fan of in the past... teaching launch angles and applying shifts and other analytic type stuff. Strange how Kingston was able to sell those things to him when he was hired. Not sure why he didn't go with someone with similar philosophies. Maybe he did that with Holbrook and took a different path after that idk. Anyways, good to hear him announcing all three games. Hope he does some more.

Mainieri may not be the answer but it is ridiculous to blame him for the much deeper problems with the USC baseball program and USC athletics in general. We complained for years about Ray Tanner, one of the worst ADs in our history, maybe the worst, but were told to stand down, he was doing great and had a plan. Well we are seeing the fruits of his plan as we speak and it is all across the board. What major sport has improved under Tanner's many years of incompetence? Please name one coach in any major sport that has us competing for a league title? And Tanner is still at USc, soaking up our athletic $ as a freaking consultant. Unbelievable.

Tanner’s hiring decisions is why I dropped out of the Gamecock Club 10 years ago after being a Full Scholarship donor for 40 years. Sad indeed what our men’s sports program has become.

So the big changes coming were simply more announcements about big changes are coming. Can we move on from Monte Lee and whoever else is on the staff? I will say this about hitting and pitching. Most kids that enter college already have the ability to hit and pitch and more than likely have instructors that help them. All hitters and pitchers are different. The worst a coach can do is make these kids see it their way when the way they were seeing it got them there.
