Superb performance by our baseball team winning a big series SEC series against the number four team in the nation while our so-called fans sit at home and post manure about our team, coaching staff and Ray Tanner.

One mediocre month and we can't even half fill our ballpark on a Saturday afternoon for a big SEC series. A program with real fans like LSU, Miss. St or Arky would have had a packed house if their baseball team hadn't won a single game all season.

Hope you schmucks got no enjoyment out of the win because you certainly don't deserve any.

lol, we were 6-12 and not even competitive coming into the vandy series. thats probably the worst month of baseball we've had since the 80's.

I am excited about this series win! But... I think you are off base here- MOST of our fans are still avid supporters of the team, this weekend was TERRIBLE WEATHER- raining at least part of the game for all three I believe, the Thursday night game was not only raining, but bitterly cold for this time of year and WEEKNIGHT! No, LSU would not have packed their stadium under similar conditions with a team performing at a similar level, I just do not agree there. Gamecock fans are as loyal as any fan base. I was at school here during the start and end of the 1/21 two year stretch in FB, and we were top 15 in attendance the second year of that stretch. Losing doesn't keep our fans away- bad weather does...

As for some fans posting rotting manure all over this board - it has become common place. The same people do it all the time, they come right out and TELL YOU THEY ARE TROLLS, and nothing is done about it. I guess trolls are the types of posters they want around here. Pisses me off, and keeps me away most of the time honestly.

This could be the start of a good run towards a better season or just a blimp on the radar. I won't get my hopes up after this past weeks showing....sorry to let you down. Hope for the best and prepare for the worse....

Fans in the stands are way more loyal than the pathetic whiners on the forums. Dropped my membership in insiders forum because of it and only visit here once in awhile. Wrote to mods and their response did not promise enough improvement to warrant paying for it, so I'm gone. Life is too full of other interesting things to have to tolerate such infantile sniveling.

Both of these two games showed some tenacity and spirit so maybe it does mark a turnaround. Anything major is probably not in the cards but some decent play without really bad mistakes may be. No good reason for a major college team to have so many losses of concentration on defense and poor choices on offense.

It certainly was a superb win and a very good series. May I also add, that's one helluva hissie fit you got going on there.

Why come to support a losing team?

Do you pride your stock broker for buying high and selling low too? Because that's what a True investor does! Derp derp derp..

My stockbroker is someone I pay a commission to in a business relationship, although I wouldn't bail on him for one bad month after years of success either because I'm not a moron.

This team and this staff are Gamecocks like me and I'm behind them all the way. If you were a real Gamecock you'd understand that too.

all the sunshine pumpers are sickening. This season is in the dumpster no matter how riled up any sunshine pumper wants to get about a this win or that win. We already lost too many, choked too many, got blown out too many times, lost to too many garbage teams. It's TOO LITTLE TOO LATE pumpers.

You see this is living proof that a so called Gamecock fan hates that fact that USC wins a series to prove a point. Pitiful

Thankfully Holbrook, his staff, and the ballclub aren't quitters like you.

Frustrations do not mean you don't support your team. This will be MY team long after Holbrook has hit the door. I support the university, the programs and players. The coach gets my support only while he is here and only if he is producing....bottom line. If it is your opinion to support a coach that is not performing then that's on you. It doesn't make you a better fan because of it....just makes you a fan that settles for lower expectations than others.....nothing more....nothing less. These guys vent because they are passionate about the program.....seems to me you are not as passionate....so in reality, they are the better fans.

Let's not forget that this is baseball. Not football. Folks tend to fill the stadium for football no matter the level of play, or the weather. Baseball, even basketball to a lesser degree, is a bit different. It's the sport that everyone jumps on the bandwagon when things are going well, but also the sport that folks can easily ignore as a sideshow, a minor sport, when things don't go well.

I agree...the crowds would be huge if you only played 10 or 12 baseball or basketball games a season, but that's not the case....

Supporting the team, does not mean you have to act like everything is fine and good when it's clearly not.

I love that USC won the game, won the series, just doesn't begin to make up for the rest of the horrible season.

Supporting a losing team is being a Cubs fan.

Just because you don't go to the games doesn't mean you don't support the team. If you go by that, then they're not that many that support the team since the stadium only holds 8,000+. I go when I can but I never miss a game.
Proud of how the team showed up this weekend.

The ." the sky is falling" 'do I dare call them fans, are confused tonight.. they don't know what to do

First off I was glad to see some fire in this team, especially Wynkoop and Gore, and hope it is a sign of things to come. Winning the series against vandy could be the start of this team getting hot. At least I hope so. I hate seeing them struggle, but criticism can sometimes be a good thing. As fans are we supposed to cheer when the team makes a bad play or clap when we strikeout? It's ok to be upset when your team struggles. Doesn't make you a bad fan. Holbrook gets paid good money to win games and if he can't handle the criticism that comes with losing then he shouldn't have accepted the job. We are a fan base that has gotten used to and expects to be the best team on the diamond no matter the opponent .Pathetic fans are the ones who don't care when they loose.

I've been to every game this year. There weren't many more fans in the seats during the 10 game winning streak and the team was 17-3. What was the excuse then for not showing up? What is the excuse when it's a close game and USC fans are getting up to leave in the 8th inning as happened against Kentucky on that Sunday? USC wins 6-4 in 10 innings, but many had already gone. Happens every game no matter the score. USC has a lot of fans that only want to come if they think the team is going to win. As someone else said LSU fans would have packed their stadium even if the team was in a losing streak. LSU fans show up in Omaha, even when their team doesn't.

some people are happy with mediocrity.....coaches that win championships are not

I find absolutly no sunshine pumpers on this thread, only some who are glad the team won and glad they showed some fire while doing it. Others seem upset that the team did not live down to their predictions.

You must have missed the class on tautologies. When black becomes white, joy becomes sorrow and pathos becomes confidence, you will be right on. Otherwise your convoluted reasoning does not fly.

What is continuously posted on this board goes way beyond criticism. We have people who literally can't wait to post their negative crap 5 minutes into a game in any sport if we don't lead from start to finish and perform perfectly every play of every game. They want to fire coaches mid season, heck, maybe even mid game. They call out players, coaches, posters and whoever doesn't join in their 24-7-365 doom and gloom mentality. They hate all who can see a modicum of silver lining in a black cloud and call us sunshine pumpers. Well I'd much rather pump a little sunshine than the sewage they continually spew. It must be a miserable existence. Go Gamecocks!

and then we have some people on here that like to do the opposite

It's pathetic I feel the same way UGA or any cellar team feels after knocking off the defending champs. We won a series. Congrats. Many of inferior teams have won series against us in our glory years. Pumpers get over yourselves. This was one series. It's baseball, great teams lose to horrible ones. The way our season has gone and one series win over the defending national champs does not make me confident and expect us to the CWS. Our baseball team is in shambles, But congrats on the series win. Holbrook is still not the answer.

pffft. If it were up to Pepsi and the rest of the goobers like the op, horn and brad Scott would still be coaches at USC, so keep that in mind. After every win, no matter how infrequent, they come on to chest pound and shame the 'fake' fans. And when changed are made, they are the first to hammer the coached the previously defended.
