Yardcocks 1 Pathetic So-called Fans 0

I have be critical of the team many times in the last few weeks....my wish ? I would love to be wrong and have to eat my words. I wish the team would get hot...make a regional, win...make the Super...win...go to the CWS...win a national championship....go on and make Holbrook the winningest coach in South Carolina baseball history. That's probably not going to happen. My bar is not that high. It is somewhere within reason...be competitive and play every game to win. That has not happened until Friday and didn't happen the Thursday before the Friday win. It hasn't happen for some time. Nothing and I do mean nothing would make me happier than to win a national championship from this lowly perch. I love being wrong when we benefit but there's nothing wrong with the old favorite Spurrier saying (in the paper today) "It is, what it is".....

I remember when Steve Spurrier came to Carolina, he told us not to applaud for a good effort. We needed to expect to win and not to accept less. Now that "some" of us are in a frame of mind that we expect our teams to do well and not to accept mediocrity, some of you choose to be critical of that? I will tell you straight up.. I would not pay good money to watch bad baseball and football with our players that show a lackadaisical attitude and if some of you don't like that then tough. I will pay to watch our team play with heart and show some pride in themselves, even if they lose. This past weekend our baseball team showed pride against a very good Vandy team. Thats all I ask for as a fan is they put forth the effort and represent USC in the best possible way because Lord knows we have enough people/organizations putting down the university from the outside. The State newspaper is one example. The problem with this board is a few of our posters attack other Carolina fans just because they do not agree with thier opinion when they should be attacking A-hole fans of other teams that come over here bashing our teams and university. JMO. Oh and just like USCbatgirl, I sat through many games during the 0-21 streak but now I expect better from our football teams and baseball teams.

I am excited about this series win! But... I think you are off base here- MOST of our fans are still avid supporters of the team, this weekend was TERRIBLE WEATHER- raining at least part of the game for all three I believe, the Thursday night game was not only raining, but bitterly cold for this time of year and WEEKNIGHT! No, LSU would not have packed their stadium under similar conditions with a team performing at a similar level, I just do not agree there. Gamecock fans are as loyal as any fan base. I was at school here during the start and end of the 1/21 two year stretch in FB, and we were top 15 in attendance the second year of that stretch. Losing doesn't keep our fans away- bad weather does...
As for some fans posting rotting manure all over this board - it has become common place. The same people do it all the time, they come right out and TELL YOU THEY ARE TROLLS, and nothing is done about it. I guess trolls are the types of posters they want around here. Pisses me off, and keeps me away most of the time honestly.
amen brother....bout had it with the bs on here....just cant believe some of these people are fans
That is what is so frustrating fanboy- they are NOT FANS. They are trailer trash TROLLS, childish instigators and fans of our rivals who come here to cause trouble. They make screen names that even TELL US THEY ARE TROLLS, they attack anyone who dares show any positive emotion about the team, calling them names like "sunshine pumpers" as though being a FAN is a negative thing, and the mods here let them have free reign to do and say whatever they please and toss out as many personal insults against fellow posters, the coaches and players as they want... With no consequence... But if anybody opposes them or calls them names back, THAT is who the mods go after. Makes perfect sense, right? All effed up is what it is.

The thousands I spent with the gamecock club in 2015 have made it a business relationship. I had little return on investment this past year. In fact, there's been little return on investment ever.

The fans that financially float the programs are the ones that get irritated the most.

If true fans are ones that support the team through thick and thin - why doesn't the athletic department ever support the fans - reducing ticket prices, concessions, etc.

Only supporting the team when they are winning is the very definition of a fair weather fan.
Supporting a losing team is being a Cubs fan.
Exactly my point, cubs fans are true fans even when they suck. Now that the cubs are beginning to trend upwards there will be many bandwagon and fair weather fans that claim to be cubs fans.

Holbrook is getting a lot of blame from people that have no idea what is going on. I am not sold whether Holbrook is the right fit but I'm also not sold that he is not the right fit. This year has definitely been a disappointment, but a lot of what has gone on is not coaching (injuries, untimely errors, player slumps). This team has seemed to lose a lot of their confidence. Now hopefully this series win can regain some confidence and finish strong. This team does not have the talent or pitching to make the CWS. But I personally know of ex players that played for both tanner and Holbrook that say Holbrook is a great coach and they knew this year would not be as great as some people expected.

This ^^^^ is the proper response...well said.
I love that USC won the game, won the series, just doesn't begin to make up for the rest of the horrible season.
pffft. If it were up to Pepsi and the rest of the goobers like the op, horn and brad Scott would still be coaches at USC, so keep that in mind. After every win, no matter how infrequent, they come on to chest pound and shame the 'fake' fans. And when changed are made, they are the first to hammer the coached the previously defended.
Exactly. That and call anyone who disagrees with their views as Taters.

Superb performance by our baseball team winning a big series SEC series against the number four team in the nation while our so-called fans sit at home and post manure about our team, coaching staff and Ray Tanner.

One mediocre month and we can't even half fill our ballpark on a Saturday afternoon for a big SEC series. A program with real fans like LSU, Miss. St or Arky would have had a packed house if their baseball team hadn't won a single game all season.

Hope you schmucks got no enjoyment out of the win because you certainly don't deserve any.
Were you there for the thrashing Thursday? In the rain Friday? Early Saturday?

I guess the "pathetic so called fans" have no beef after all. Losing to every in-state school we've played except the Citadel this season should be completely ignored.

Ridiculous, Sunshine pumpers ATTACK people don't sunshine pump. That is what it's all about. The refuse to admit that the team SUCKS right now. And refuse to hold the Coaches responsible for it. That is sunshine pumpers. Give all the players and coaches free passes all the time. Bash true fans that care whether there teams is good or not. Sunshine pumpers, SAY they care about the team being good, but they don't freaking act like it. They act like they care about squashing dissent about the team not being good, and calling out someone's fandom for caring.
