One reason we didn’t get Stanley Roberts was because his high school coach went to LSU with him. And Dale Brown was a good recruiter.
In the state high school 4A title game, I believe it was 1988, LR played Hillcrest. Roberts won the tip, sprinted to the rim, received the ball and dunked it with such force that the basket support came detached from the floor. The game was stopped less than 10 seconds in to fix that. Most powerful dunk I’d seen in high school at that time.
Wish we could have signed Stanley. George Felton was as hard-working of a recruiter as it gets.
