Darius Gray is an elite 4-star 6-foot-5, 275-pound offensive guard from St. Christopher’s in Richmond, Virginia who has 45 offers, including from several big-name Power Four programs.
Other major programs are also making inroads with Gray, like Georgia, Michigan, and Tennessee. But the Gamecocks are one of the schools that could have an inside track with the player from the area highly-recruited by head coach Shane Beamer’s program. South Carolina has been recruiting him since the summer of his 8th grade season. The Gamecocks were the 4th overall Power Four program to offer him after Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Penn State. Gray has been on several visits throughout his high school career, including this offseason and for the LSU and Texas A&M games this season.
Here was his exclusive reaction with Gamecock Scoop to Carolina’s big 17-14 win over Clemson.
“What a win! So happy for Coach Beamer and everything he is doing!! He slowly finishing the final pieces of the team he wants!!”
