Amazing season. Amazing job by the players. Phenomenal job by the coaches.

I know everyone is in the thick of football and basketball right now, but a few baseball schedule pieces are coming together.

The first games of the Paul Mainieri era will be against Sacred Heart at Founders Park, a three-game series February 14-15-16. It's already on their website

The second series of non-conference play will be against UW-Milwaukee, per a contract received from a FOIA request. Neither school has officially announced it, but the Wisconsin school will be coming to Founders Park February 21-22-23.

The Clemson series has already been announced for that same third weekend of non-confernece play. It'll be Friday, Feb. 28 at Clemson, March 1st at Fluor Field in Greenville, and March 2nd at Founders Park.

The final series of non-conference play, the one wedged between Clemson and the SEC opening series, will be three games against Morehead State at Founders Park March 7-8-9.

In addition, two midweek dates have been set and confirmed by the opposing school:
February 25th vs. Gardner-Webb
March 18th vs. College of Charleston (SEGRA Park)

I can also confirm that the Gamecocks will have midweeks against North Carolina, Davidson, Winthrop (x2) and Georgia State on the schedule, although dates have not been finalized.

Can say as well in terms of midweeks that a few local schools who the Gamecocks have played in the past definitely will not be on the schedule. Charlotte, App State, UNC-Wilmington and UNC-Greensboro have all released their schedules, and none of them will play against South Carolina.

This year’s finalists for the Nagurski Trophy include Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron, Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter, Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham and South Carolina edge Kyle Kennard.

The Bronko Nagurski Trophy recipient will be chosen from these four finalists. The FWAA All-America Committee selects the national defensive player of the year who is part of the 2024 FWAA All-America Team and presented the trophy at the 30th Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet on Dec. 9 in Charlotte, N.C.
