What ever happened to the days when fans stood behind their coach...especially the coach with the most wins in your schools history???

"What ever happened to"? That has never been the case at Carolina. Spurrier is our first experience of having something / someone to hang on to. I'm sure he would have more supporters had we not "gotten a little lazy" in our recruiting the past few years. Those are his words (or very close to them).
Don't get me wrong, I am a Spurrier fan through and through, and would love to see him coach as long as Joe Pa did at PSU.

Hmmm. Nope - I never pose, my man. I am a CU alum and fan - have never said 'we' for Carolina. I'm here for some good football discussion, but mostly for the laughs. It's hard to get quality replies - when you guys think everyone is a troll. Yours is case in point. Thanks for the 'loser' part too - that was great.

And yep - that's what I was alluding to with the 'no luck' part. Wasn't too lucky to lose our QB in the first quarter.

I'm sure it's difficult to get quality replies when you never say anything of constructive about Carolina...since this is a Gamecock forum. You're just a troll and you think your'e funny. You aren't. Posts like your kind are just affirmation of the mentality of a lot of clemsux fans.

That is indisputable. He has accomplished more, and has way more acclaim, fame, interest, respect, clout... Call it whatever you like.. Behind his name than our whole University has accomplished in over 100 years of playing the game. That is the truth. Normally a coach may not be greater than the team they coach for... SOS IS in this case. He can sit there and collect a check as long as he likes because he makes us better just by attaching his name to our school, and if we FIRE A LEGEND like SOS, no coach worth their salt will want to come here for DECADES. We better hope he realizes when the time to quit has arrived and does it on his own.

Amen brother. Coach Spurrier has made us a national name. I was in Pittsburgh this weekend for a wedding. For some reason there were a number of Florida Gator fans also in attendance and all they would talk about was the Head Ball Coach. Sure, he was a legend at Florida as a player and a coach, but he was much more to their fans. No one mentioned Urban or any other former coach. It struck me how lucky Carolina has been to have this living legend coach our team and show the love he has for South Carolina in general. I hope he stays as long as he desires. He will leave when he loses the competitive spirit and I hope that never happens.
