I wasn't very optimistic to start the season, however this team has made a lot of progress since game 1.
Hard to argue a 9-0 start. This weekend will be a good measuring stick to see where they are at.

They're doing a lot of the little things well, good plate discipline, but not waiting on the walk or hbp, playing very good defense, running the bases exceptionally well, heck I've even seen some hit and run called and last night they went long ball. Looking pretty good and yes we will know more after this weekend.

I've been pretty excited by what I have seen so far as well but I keep telling myself lets wait and see. Primary because our swing mechanics always look good the first month right up until they dont. Every year. Agreed this weekend will tell us a lot. I would also add the two weeks after that may tell us even more as far as this year looking any different. Do we maintain those swings this year? If we do, we'll know soon. That said, our depth at the plate looks pretty darn good right now. If you ask me, we could very well have one of the strongest bottom half of the lineup we've had in a long time. Pitching is gonna be whatever it is gonna be. Hard to tell how that's gonna go so we better hit the ball.

Our schedule has been pretty weak. Clemson has already played 2 ranked teams I think.

It goes from 0-100 this weekend.

I wish we could have played a Va. Tech or even Coastal in a weekend series or maybe a Tuesday/Wednesday series last week before playing Clemson

I listened to the game on the radio. It was intense in many ways (according to radio crew). Too many strikeouts and quite a few long balls for our guys that needed to carry another 10 feet. Hope to get to tomorrow’s game at Fluor. Does anyone know if it is sold out?

First team they have played that has a pulse!! I still can’t believe you can’t “manufacture” a run with a bases loaded no out situation in first, could have set the tone, but had to be demoralizing!!

This can be a good team but it's nowhere close to a really good team. Our head coach has pretty much said we don't have any top arms like he plans to have soon.

Clemson is ahead of us right now. Doesn't mean we can't have a decent season but this is not going to be a team that lands a 1 seed in a regional. This is going to be a team that battles for a regional.

I agree. But I was mainly referring to the entire season outlook. Mainieri has basically said we don't have elite arms.

That's not to say we don't have pretty good pitching. But over a season, we just don't have those guys that really match up against some of the best teams.

I don't like to call out guys too much but Tippett is an unreliable hitter. I guess he's in the lineup for defense.

I honestly have not followed the team this season very much so far so good to know. I typically start following it closer when SEC play starts.
