Cheap tickets and discount food/drink/ beer would be a start.
I mean high school football isn’t worth more than $10 a game.

Is it even high school though? Even Al Bundy scored 4 TDs in one game.Cheap tickets and discount food/drink/ beer would be a start.

When I was in my teens and twenties, I didn't mind sitting in traffic, standing in lines, sitting on an uncomfortable aluminum bench with no back in all kinds of miserable weather, being crowded up against people I didn't know, and eating concession food.I get where he's coming from. It's just the beginning of his tenure so it's all new and fresh to him and he obviously wants the fans to be there loud and proud. Perfectly understandable. However, the fans have been on this ride before...many times before. With the ease of availability to watch the game just about wherever you want, there's not a whole lot of motivation for fans to get out to the game, except those who make it more of a social event. The product on the field will draw the fans or keep the fans away. No place is better than Willy B when it's packed and hopping, so I hope we get back to those days, but I think the days are probably past when fans pack the stadium out to cheer on the team, no matter the quality of the product, Add onto that what others have mentioned on here recently about the fan experience at the stadium. Food, facilities, etc...doesn't sound like they do a great job there.

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer wants to see more fans in the stands

Bingo. When I was in my teens and twenties, I didn't mind sitting in traffic, standing in lines, sitting on an uncomfortable aluminum bench with no back in all kinds of miserable weather, being crowded up against people I didn't know, and eating concession food.
I'm 58 going on 59, and I refuse to pay money to be inconvenienced. There are a lot of things I no longer put up with, like air travel, because of my philosophy.
Today I sit in Section HD, with a big ole TV set, recliner chair, bathroom nearby, food and drink on deck in the kitchen, and the ability to watch college football all Saturday long from 12 noon to 12 midnight.
The only way I'd go to Williams-Brice is if a car came to pick me up at home, drove me directly to the stadium entrance with no standing in line, going directly to a luxury box complete with all the free food and drink I want, and a ride home immediately after the game with no sitting in traffic.
I'm slowly getting there but its mostly crappy play, crappy concessions, crappy restrooms, and the worst exit traffic I've seen at any stadium that keep me away. I do miss the live action and experience though. Nothing like 2001 live during a big game. To this day, the 2012 UGA experience is one of my top moments. Well, that and being at the 5 bomb. When I was in my teens and twenties, I didn't mind sitting in traffic, standing in lines, sitting on an uncomfortable aluminum bench with no back in all kinds of miserable weather, being crowded up against people I didn't know, and eating concession food.

I agree with you. Ten to twenty years ago, I enjoyed going to college football games.I'm slowly getting there but its mostly crappy play, crappy concessions, crappy restrooms, and the worst exit traffic I've seen at any stadium that keep me away. He has won games....and still our attendance is the second worse in the SEC.Win games. Problem solved
So....you admit to being a band wagon fan?I'm slowly getting there but its mostly crappy play, crappy concessions, crappy restrooms, and the worst exit traffic I've seen at any stadium that keep me away. Since we are in the running for the second worse team in the SEC that seems to be right in line.He has won games....and still our attendance is the second worse in the SEC.
Bingo.
And here’s the dilemma schools like USC face. When your program has offered no hope it can even be competitve on the football field, it’ll struggle to pull people to the stadium. What’s the point of dropping all that money to go watch a terrible product and wait in long lines. When I was in my teens and twenties, I didn't mind sitting in traffic, standing in lines, sitting on an uncomfortable aluminum bench with no back in all kinds of miserable weather, being crowded up against people I didn't know, and eating concession food.

Hear here! You don't waste money on other defective products that give you no satisfaction. And here’s the dilemma schools like USC face. So did he absolutely have to specify that he meant many more games against decent-to-good opponents? He has won games....and still our attendance is the second worse in the SEC.
It's not a matter of being a bandwagon fan.So....you admit to being a band wagon fan?
