According to Dan Patrick: "Big 10 and Pac 12 will cancel their football seasons tomorrow... The ACC and the Big 12 are on the fence.. And the SEC is trying to get teams to join them for a season."

It is damaging CFB broadly speaking and has been the issue that plagues it for decades. The NCAA needs to step aside and let CFB do their own thing with a unified approach. Not having a unified leadership structure (NCAA Not!) is going to kill the season
This wraps it up. There is no point in playing without a championship to award, and they cannot award a championship with multiple of the power 5 conferences cancelling the season.
This effectively ended the CFB season.
I will be embracing those who play. If the SEC shut it down, but the ACC played I would pick a team to root for and follow. So if the SEC plays, will others wish for COVID-19 casualties to wag their finger in disapproval and justify others' decision to not play? Or will we give the college football world embrace something to cheer about during an otherwise dismal fall (Antifa riots, election-year politics, and pandemic fear-mongering). Which group will you be in? I'll be in the latter.

I have to disagree. A championship can be awarded to the best team on the day that a championship game is played. If it’s an SEC championship, it’s still a championship. If only 1 other conference plays, there will be a game between the 2 for an overall champion.
So there will be no official CFB Championship, correct? How can you have a legitimate champion if 2 huge conferences are out?

They opted out. I say award the title to the best team from the teams that played that year.
You couldn't get consensus if we should play Clemson this year, despite SEC setting a 10 conference only schedule, but you think teams from another conference are going to go Pell Mell and defy their own conference mandate ?Yep. Just ridiculous
Hopefully SEC can get other two conferences to join for a season
This would be a illegitimate mess ridiculed by everyone who cares about the sport. Absolutely no purpose in doing it, and it opens the door for extreme liability concerns for whatever conferences push forward despite the fact other major conferences of comparable size and import have cancelled their seasons. Let’s say the SEC forges on, has a season and after the first game an OK from one team contracts the virus, after testing negative prior to the game, and he dies. The SEC would be sued into oblivion. Never in a million years would the put themselves up for that liability, never. If there was a central authority making the decision for all conferences and the Feds would issue a no litigation policy exemption... Then perhaps. In light of these cancelations there is absolutely no way we get this done..I have to disagree. A championship can be awarded to the best team on the day that a championship game is played. It is not like anyone in those conferences were going to win anyway. They are just playoff whipping boys. This would be a illegitimate mess ridiculed by everyone who cares about the sport. Ha! Top 10, what you talking about? If the SEC is the only conference that plays, we should end up in the top 20. -- Mr Brightside

Goodness, the media is licking their lips at the thought of dozens of college football players lying dead from Covid.
There are ways to get it done. Looking at it through the players eyes, most want to play and are trying to leverage playing into other considerations. These are not uninformed kids making random decisions.
For most (if not all), playing is safer than being sent home. They will get tested at least 2 times a week, get proper medical care paid for by the Universities, get all the proper care, nutrition, etc... If there is no season, all that goes away.
Haha! Destroying EVERYTHING for something with a 99+% recovery. Pathetic
You just explained why CFB 2020 will not happen ----- It makes entirely too much EFFING sense....... what you said.
Again, this isn't about a "virus" and it's not about "player health." This is all about Nov. 3.
I'm with you .. Hell, there will be people on this board waiting for the first Covid positive case so they can lecture Everyone about how right they are...So if the SEC plays, will others wish for COVID-19 casualties to wag their finger in disapproval and justify the decision of others to not play? So, if the SEC and ACC play, would we make the top 25 then?
