Better not hitch that wagon to Malzhan. His buyout is huge, but they'll definitely pull the trigger on him next year if they don't win enough games. The Gus is gonna get fired next season! He has to beat Bama, Jawja and LSU to keep his job.
I would be surprised too. Maybe next year but definitely wouldn’t expect it this season with Jake getting ready to play his senior season.
I’ve heard on the Locked on the Gamecocks podcast that the Auburn board is freezing the salary money for Gus’s assistants, trying to get him to take a lesser buyout.Better not hitch that wagon to Malzhan. Well, if that's true, it's getting nasty down there.I’ve heard on the Locked on the Gamecocks podcast that the Auburn board is freezing the salary money for Gus’s assistants, trying to get him to take a lesser buyout.
Could make sense because most assistant coaches are on yearly contracts.Well, if that's true, it's getting nasty down there.
They take football serious on them PlainsGet on the bus, Gus...
Make a new plan, Stan...
Is it just me or does Auburn seem like an NFL program in the sense that the HC really doesn’t have full control of the program?
I would think if McClendon left for a HC job he would be a possible replacement from within.I can see the temptation to be the OC but there have to be better situations out there.
If it happened right now, The Man Behind the Curtain would be the front-runner.I would think if McClendon left for a HC job he would be a possible replacement from within.
I heard some reasonable logic though...he was a HS coach, then an analyst. Now as RB coach he makes like $350k which is probably the most money he’s ever made by far. OC at Auburn would double that...who wouldn’t jump at that chance.
I think we’d be in good shapeIf it happened right now, The Man Behind the Curtain would be the front-runner.
I notice that guy who's taking the Maryland job is staying at Alabama through the playoffs. The biggest unanswered question here is................................................. will he skip our bowl game to prep for it???
I wouldn’t blame him for taking the chance but it’s seems to be a very shaky situation in Auburn right now.I would think if McClendon left for a HC job he would be a possible replacement from within.

Better shape - less filtering going on.I think we’d be in good shape

I would too tho. Another potential ring to show off.I notice that guy who's taking the Maryland job is staying at Alabama through the playoffs.
And it underscores for me why Auburn is not a good job. (See: Bowden, Terry and Tuberville, Tommy.)Well, if that's true, it's getting nasty down there.
Maybe we could get Jay Graham or Robert Gillespie back. They both can recruit...and they are very good RB coaches. The nepotism angle with Jake aside, BB would be a key loss. I believe he’s been the top recruiter last two years.
If he gets the chance, though, congrats and good luck.
I would LOVE to have Graham back! Where is he now!Maybe we could get Jay Graham or Robert Gillespie back. They both can recruit...and they are very good RB coaches.
TAMUI would LOVE to have Graham back! Where is he now!
Ouch, didn’t know that.TAMU
He is from Concord, NC and one of the reasons he came here in the first place was to get closer to home. Only left us to coach at his alma mater, UT.Ouch. Would we even attempt to steal him?
Well, we got Wolford back for an encore performance, and he's doing better than before. Maybe we can duplicate that success? He is from Concord, NC and one of the reasons he came here in the first place was to get closer to home. Only left us to coach at his alma mater, UT.
Auburn is arguably the most in-bred Athletic Department in the SEC, and perhaps the entire country. And it underscores for me why Auburn is not a good job. (See: Bowden, Terry and Tuberville, Tommy.)
When is it not nasty down there? They're always firing coaches in all sports and hiring thugs.Well, if that's true, it's getting nasty down there.
When you say "thugs", are you still talking about he coaches? I just want to make sure I understand. When is it not nasty down there? They're always firing coaches in all sports and hiring thugs.
