Frank Martin use to talk quite often about working on the schedule. I am sure Dawn is in the same position.

I am not sure why the AD would work on scheduling anyway other than to send out any contracts, etc. .

The head coach and staff would be in the best position to decide who to play. After all, it's the head coach that normally has the relationships with other coaches.

Now, your last sentence - that's not what happens between people that respect each other.

I agree 100%. Dawn did the right thing, imo.

Case closed.

If she did the right thing then everyone should follow suit and cancel all games against BYU. Leaving them with no one to play. Is that what you people want? Because 1 idiot may or may not have said something?

Even Dawn wouldn't say everyone should do what she did. She made the decision that she felt was best for her team. As head coach, that's her responsibility and other coaches have to make their own decisions.

Once again, Dawn didn't accuse anyone of anything. She didn't rule out playing BYU again.

Dawn didn't come out asking other coaches to do the same thing she did.

BYU will easily be able to find someone else to play. That will be a non issue.

And then if one idiot shouts out something at USC (or somebody thinks they did) and everybody follows suit and cancels, then we’d have nobody to play.

Again, you are conflating things.

The allegation from Duke was that BYU officials didn't do enough at the time to stop things. It wasn't that one fan might have done something so she decided to cancel.

The premise Dawn considered at the time was the allegation from the Duke side that BYU officials didn't do enough.

Again, Dawn didn't say BYU failed to do the right thing. She made no such statement.

Yet all video and audio of the entire match has yet to prove this happened. In todays world just cancel be damned the facts.

So far that appears to be the case from the BYU side.

and of course Duke is standing their ground.

However, it's a non issue at this point. Dawn didn't cancel the game and say it happened. She canceled because she said she didn't think this was the right time to play given the situation.

Has

it been proven one fan yelled anything racist?

Not yet. But it doesn't matter.

Even if a fan had yelled something, that's not why Dawn said she canceled the games.

I am sure fans have yelled some pretty awful things at her over the years - and she just went about her business.

This exactly. Dawn made a decision before the facts came out. The story is now debunked, but she will not change course. It would hurt the narrative.

Stories like this don't need to be true, they just need to be repeated to get the desired affect.

There is ZERO reason to change course. We don't owe any school anything- especially a non conference school.

Dawn said she didn't want to put her players in such a situation and that's remains true today even after BYU investigated themselves. Fine.

It would be a fiasco to play them now and the players don't need that.

Your response is nonsense. She made the fiasco possibility by coming out with her statement.

Yea like Smollet, the facts don’t matter, I’m sure Dee was ALL OVER THAT which turned out to be completely made up. That is worse than racism itself yet it doesn’t matter, the narrative is out there.

I don’t believe i ever commented on the situation as I was not aware of who that person was or familiar with his work.

But no, I feel certain you will find no such posts of affirmation.

It’s not racism to decide not to play a basketball game to avoid a potential incident.

I thought AD’s handled scheduling and not coaches. Why is Tanner allowing Staley to make the decision. He should reschedule the games and tell her to quit if she doesn’t like it.

The AD's have a say of course, but it's squarely in the coach's hands each year for the most part.

When you see these big out-of-conference home and home matchups in football - made years in advance - that's the AD's. But each year, especially at the highest levels, an AD like Tanner would just be telling Dawn what her budget for guarantee games is. Outside of that, he doesn't touch it.

So basically…You could avoid this “situation” (could happen anywhere), and not play anybody.

After an extensive investigation, no racial slurs were found to have occurred. Once again we have a victim mentality making up shit and Dawn knee jerks a reaction. It appears she owes BYU an apology.

I agree, but I'm not holding my breath.

Take the easy way out. If you think you might be offended, CANCEL! CANCEL! CANCEL. Don’t try to overcome adversity and tough it out. Don’t use a situation and say we are going to get through this and be stronger for it. We will just CANCEL. The players will learn from this - if my marriage hits a tough spot, cancel it; if my job gets tough, quit; if life throws a curve, whine and cry injustice.

So, what have we established here? Dawn has the right to "protect" her players. Protect them from what, that appears to be a great unknown at this point. Maybe the sun in Utah? At the end of the day, she wins national championships and that is all that really matters. She can do whatever the hell she wants to do even if there is no basis in reality. Let's move on and win some more titles. Saves BYU an epic arse whoopin' anyway.

I do not subscribe to Mormonism as i think it’s a cult but this has ZERO to do with religion.
It doesn't have to. Bigotry is prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group. Stanford and Cal wouldn't let BYU join the Pac-10 because Stanford and Cal are run by a bunch of bigots. Just like your coach and AD at USC has shown themselves.

You don't make a lick of sense.

Dawn prematurely rode in on her SJW high horse and made a terrible decision. Now she doesn't have the balls to admit that she was wrong.

To change the subject, I watched our girls work out a couple of weeks ago and they worked hard and were respectful and listened to their coaches.

You could i guess but that clearly hasn't happened. We dont play everybody and dawn gets to choose who we do play even if it upsets some of you.

TheIr religious beliefs are irrelevant here. No reason to make up stuff that doesn't apply.

She can make whatever decision she likes. She’s in charge of her team.

Starting to get name-calling of each other and coaches in here. Feel free to create a thread about WBB that has to do with actual games on the schedule.
