CBS sports - Bobo to South Carolina

Good point and I think people are underestimating this aspect of it. If Bobo accepts the USC OC job over interest from other programs, it will likely be a multi-year deal as I'm sure he won't want to be back on the market a year from now. Meanwhile, Muschamp's buyout will still be north of $14 million next fall. So, if $19 million was too expensive to make a move this year, will $14 million plus Bobo's buyout seem affordable a year from now?

My guess is that may be a key reason BOT approval is needed for an assistant coach. They may be asking for a multi-year commitment.

Muschamp will restructure his contract most likely.

It will be $15.5mil next year.

Mike Bobo wouldn't have been my first choice, but he does meet the major qualification that Ray and Muschamp have screwed up multiple times: Bobo at least DOES have a successful history at his job.

At least the offense will have an identity now so there goes that complaint with some people. And if he can bring in some nice recruits like the top qb that was rumored in another thread, never know how this will turn out.but if In a year or two, smart decides he wants another OC,wonder if he comes after bobo with this top qb in tow?

I'm going to support this staff unless or until it becomes impossible to do so. We need for our team to improve and we don't need to have to start over. So, I'm pulling for these guys. I hope they make it happen.
Maybe one if the best posts I've seen from you, "Kang"

Likely a good hire. We'll see.

This was admin's stab at getting attention off of a bad head coach - pegging the offensive as the issue to buy more time.

Meanwhile, a pretty healthy defense was ranked 70th this year. Closing the year with UT, App State, A&M and Clemson moving the ball up and down the field at will. Clemson could have scored 80 with ease if they had chosen to.
Not if our offense had a pulse..... Defense can't stay on the field all night ..

I'm not going to say Bobo is NOT the answer, or say he WILL make a difference, because I'm not clairvoyant.
What I will say is, that this hire doesn't inspire a lot of optimism, as far as I'm concerned.
In all fairness, I don't know what OC hire would have inspired confidence in ol' Coach BOOM!. It's not really the OCs' fault at this point.

I wish him luck. What can he do in one year? Our offense has no NFL talent. Might be the worst group of WRs since joining the SEC. Below average offensive line. No elite RB unless Lloyd pans out. Average at QB. Next season is gonna be another long season.

I feel you. I guess his job will be to ID who can catch or run the ball and how to best block for it. I don't expect any offensive miracles. But if he could simply do his part to help see the team to, oh, 7 wins, I would see that as progress. I think others will say, too little, too late.

We may not be happy, but we are all pulling for them. You can be both. But I agree , it's time to calm it down. BTW here's a prediction....McClendon and BoBo co offensive coordinators and BoBo calling plays. You can't demote the guy, keep him onstaff, and pay him a million dollars. We have no official word from USC. Tanner said he was happy with all the coaches when he defended Muschamp. Champ can stick it to all the media and us rumor mongers by correcting the erroneous info. And he maintains his guy's status. BoBo knows how it works. If I were Muschamp, that is what I would do.He cannot make us fans any madder, but he can salvage staff morale.
I'm more inclined to think that McClendon will leave, but it would be hard for him to duplicate the money he's making unless he becomes a Power Five coordinator someplace else.

It's hard to see around that, but maybe we can somehow get to six or seven wins and this staff can get some leverage. I do believe we are facing long odds, but what choice do we have but to support the team and hope that we've dialed up something?

But surely you agree he is better than what we had the past 4 years? My question is will Muschamp leave BoBo alone and allow him to run the offense![/QUOTE]
I don't know the answer to your question. One would hope so, but history suggests otherwise.
Time will tell

Who is the answer? Many on FGF will not be please regardless of who is hired. Yet, many of those same people would condemn USC if Bobo went elsewhere.

Go Gamecocks!

SC 95
Anyone that would take a one year job at a school that is waiting 12 months to fire their shitty coach to save money is not worth a spit.

Congrats! Dumbest question of the year!!
Why? Compare what he had at UGA to what we have. Sure Bobo might be great with studs but we don't have that here. I think we screwed the pooch and will see similar results next year. We will see...problem is we actually just upped everyones buyouts for a potential one year experiment. Makes no sense to be honest unless Muskrat will be our coach the next 3 years come hell or high water.

It is amazing that our fan base is upset that we are hiring a proven OC. His head coaching experiment did not go as well as he would hope but that is a whole different animal. We have a stud RB coming in and will have two really talented QBs next year. Sounds like a receipt for success. Also, with Bobo's OC experience, hopefully he told Will that the only way he will come here if he can run the offense his way. No way, a previous head coach and successful OC will take crap from a coach that has proven he knows zero about the offensive side of the ball. Shut up and color comes to mind.
