If us losing to #20 without our OC and several top players means we didn't belong, Ole Piss losing to 4-8 Kentucky at home with all their players certainly excludes them.
Everything outside the playoffs is meaningless in respect to who was and wasn't worthy of being in the playoffs. Too many players and even coaches out.

Needs to be like basketball where strength of schedule is considered. Bama's name got them in the discussion. Switch our results with Bama's results, and nobody would have been crying that we were left out. The same results would have been used to claim we didn't belong.

Ole mIss has a worse loss but the best win and again whooped our ass at WB. So yes if there was an argument for those who didn't make it, it was Ole Miss.
Incorrect. Illinois was missing one KEY player. The receiver. We were missing our top running back and our OC. And the BEST defensive player in the entire nation. Either way, these games are irrelevant to who deserved to be in the playoff discussions. Just like beating unranked Duke with their second string QB will be for Ole Miss.
And if you don't believe a loss to a terrible team like Kentucky or Vanderbilt wouldn't exclude us from any discussion, you are crazy. The entire narrative about us would have been about the "bad loss" and if Bama had lost to us at home by 2 and won out, the entire narrative about them would be the loss was early and they are much better and "peaking" now. Same goes for Ole Miss, but probably to a lesser degree.

Clemturd won the title in 2016-2017 because Kiffin was OC at Bama and bailed on them before that National Championship game. That is a HUGE disruption for an offense. Only game Bama lost that year.

The combined records for the Power 4 teams we beat was better than the Power 4 teams Ole Miss beat. (58% vs 51%)
The combined records for the Power 4 teams that beat us was MUCH better than the Power 4 teams that beat Ole Miss. (72% vs 53%)
As a whole, we beat better teams and lost to better teams than Ole Piss.
