Or, some Republican Senators might eventually feel more able to ignore him if Trump becomes more unhinged as President because he's a lame duck, especially some that are facing tougher races in 2026 and might privately decide they aren't going to run again.

It's not so much the senate and congress that we should worry about. It's the people in his own administration. Last time he wanted to use paratroopers to shoot protestors and the military just ignored him. He wanted to go after Hillary Clinton and the DOJ just told him no.

A lot of those key leaders are gone now and Trump is going to replace them with yes men.
In some ways, Trump was lucky in his first term that he was able to escape any MAJOR world tough disasters (until Covid). We saw what happen when COVID came along. It threw a wrench into everything.

Indeed. Trump inherited a good economy and it was relatively without major strife during his first three years. This tenure could be a lot different. The economy is still recovering and on an edge. His tariffs could push it off that edge. He also could just ride the rebound.

Last time he got to negotiate with the Taliban and left the actual withdrawal to Biden. This time he's going to have to pull Soldiers out of Iraq and Syria. He's got the war in the Ukraine to deal with. He's going to also have the Israel/Palestine/Lebanon conflict and Iran lurking in Syria and Iraq.

He could get lucky again, but thinks are looking much more difficult this time around. As you said, we saw with Covid how the hard part of the job went for him.
