With the Senate in 2025 now having a Republican majority, they could indeed change the rules with just a simple majority through the "nuclear option" or by setting a new precedent. Given everything that Biden and Obama did on their watch, this would be a very garden-variety move.
First order of business should be repealing all the hundreds of billions of green energy spending in the deceptively name inflation reduction act. And while they are at it, delete all those 85,000 new IRS positions and turn them into border agents.
That would cause the Dems to implode, even though we know they were trying to do it the entire time under Biden, but couldn't get Manchin and Sinema to go along.

Also, we need rules that force all the votes for Federal elections be to counted by midnight. And require voter ID. Don't care what states do with positions in their own states, but Federal elections need to be tightly controlled. Ridiculous that we still don't know the results in several states.

The IRS has lost thousands of employees to retirement in the last 10 years and has not been able to replace them. The biggest loss is from customer service agents who help taxpayers when they call with questions, as well as tax processors.
It's why it takes over a year for some people to get a refund.
the IRS Director who first went to Congress asking for increased funding to hire new people to replace those retiring was Trump's own appointee, Charles Rettig.
This is intentional.
The way to get rid of the IRS is to have others have a bad experience with the IRS, blame the workers for not working hard enough, then get those people support having even fewer workers. Which makes the experience worse for the next person.
Becomes a cycle until people think there is no reason to even have the IRS.

+ Stop Stuffing Bills with a boatload of special interest group crap.
+ Stop spending over $100 Billion a year on Illegal Immigrants
+ Make Other Countries Pay Their Debts (The EU alone owes us $300 Billion)
+ Have China and others pay tariffs
+ Export Oil

90% of the aid is given in weapons and equipment. Mostly through American stockpiles. Those stockpiles are then restocked. Weapons and equipment are made in more than 30 states across the country.
For example, FN manufacturing in Columbia makes M4s, M240s, and M249s. So that aid "given to Ukraine" is just spent paying workers who live in Columbia, SC to build weapons. So by not aiding Ukraine, you're just hurting workers in SC.
One of the first things I'd like to see is the law changed to where the number of house seats a state gets is determined by number of US citizens and not just the number residents.

I don't think most Republicans in Congress want to get rid of the IRS. The IRS capturing taxes is how social security and medicare operates.
So if you are happy to have Medicare, you want the IRS to be able to collect everyone's proper taxes.
I think they believe too many of their own supporters simply don't want them to spend any money on it, but then you run into situations like my dad faced a few years ago when he waited almost 8 months to get his damn refund. It wasn't a big refund, but it was his money and he was upset about it. But he had filed by mailing in his return because he preferred doing it the old fashioned way (he's finally changed that) and he was very bitter about it.
Some businesses owners (actually quite a few) have waited over a year to get their refunds back simply because the IRS doesn't have enough employees to process returns, especially ones from businesses that can be more complicated.

I'm glad to live in a country, protected by the most powerful military in world history. I don't mind paying for the benefits I receive by living here.
That would require a constitutional amendment. Unlikely.
One of the reasons for that are some states have historically had many more non-citizens for various reasons- South Carolina is actually one - being we have a large number of farm workers and hotel workers that are from other countries that aren't citizens but do require public programs (when they get sick, they go to the emergency room, or receive other services where they live from cities/towns/counties.)
Most states want them counted because they don't want to get less money because they want to be able to adequately fund public services.

100%. I certainly hope all of the things they've done will be exposed to people who aren't aware. This wasn't anything like we've seen from either party in my lifetime.
