Looks like Deebo is turning heads at the senior bowl. Hopefully he can work himself into a late first, early 2nd round pick.

Gamecock Nation is wishing you the best!!

Deebo Samuel, WR, South Carolina:
He was fantastic all week. He's physical, well put together and runs good routes. Receivers get grabbed a ton out here at Senior Bowl practices. The corners are really grabby -- things that are going to be penalties at the next level. Not only did he play through it, but a lot of times he worked himself wide open through his physicality inside the route and route acumen. He was smart in terms of how he got out of his brakes, and he caught everything that was thrown his way. I talked to a couple of teams that were really excited about what he did in the first two days here and there's no way they're not going to like what they saw today. -- Lance Zierlein

Deebo Samuel, WR, South Carolina:He's stacked two really good days together. He probably had the catch of the day on Wednesday on a double move -- it was a back-shoulder throw and he adjusted for it to make a really athletic catch. He reminds me a lot of the Panthers' D.J. Moore, who was selected 24th overall last year. Samuel might not go in the first round like Moore did, but I think he's a second-round pick who'll be a really good asset with his ability to run routes, catch the ball and also run the ball. -- Daniel Jeremiah

The same guys who are done with him now will be complaining when he doesn’t say he is from South Carolina during player introductions on Sundays and Mondays in a year or two.

Instead of being so spiteful and silly, be happy one of our former players is representing our school and coaches so well on such a big stage.

The Belk Bowl happened but it WAS NOT because of Deebo. He poured out his guts for SC football.

Cheer him on. I hope he hears his name early in the draft and they show all those highlights of him in the garnet and black for all those young kids to see.

I'd be upset if he claimed South Carolina. He should have been released from the team when he decided not to participate in team activities. I'd have never dreamed of not playing in a game with my brothers when I played football. I don't understand the mentality and I probably never will. I'm OK that he quit the team. I'm not really ok with everyone acting like that's a normal response. I don't even really care about the result of the Belk bowl; it was a meaningless bowl game. But the principle is there, that you don't walk out on your team before the job is done.

Well said my man! Well said!

You don't understand that mentality because you lacked the talent to put yourself in his situation. Stand down cowboy!

Deebo probably played in close to 100 games over his lifetime. What difference would one more make Roy? I had a cousin that was great football player and he fell out of deer stand that ended his career... just sayin.

The same difference the unnecessary Akron game made to Zack Bailey. that a lot of 0's lost my man. Life changing money.

His teammates supported his decision.

Poor guy is butt hurt! He no doubt made the right move!
Your opinion is that he is correct in sitting out. Mine is that he was wrong. How does that make me butt hurt? Maybe it makes you a jock sniffer. We can agree to disagree without you resorting to calling me butt hurt. It's a very liberal thing to do. If you don't agree with someone, just stick a label on them. I was brought up that there is no I in team. You give 100% to your brothers and leave it all on the field. You don't go to battle with those guys for many weeks and then say that you are too important to battle with them in the last game. It was the last time he would be on the field with those guys. I guess it's a millennial thing just like being hurt because the bad man said hard things to you.

ALL that said, I wish Deebo well. I hope he makes a ton of money. But he is now a former player. I am looking forward to next year. Hence, he is yesterdays news. Good day to you.

It is not up to you or I if he's right or wrong.

Does he live in a bubble? My point is there are hundreds of different ways he could be injured. In addition to all of the games he’s played, he’s probably practiced 10x’s more. Have you ever heard of anyone being injured at practice? Have you ever heard of the guy that quit drinking and died from an accident with a beer truck. I know your response will be “ he doesn’t drink, so what’s your point”

was better for him to miss that shit show

It may have not been a shit show if he was playing....

Deebo was good for having at least 2 players guarding him and leaving someone else open...

Take him out of the game and prepare practice without him for 2 1/2 weeks doesn't give us time to adjust...

Just make UVA's DC life easier to plan against us...

Maybe I would feel differently if Deebo did not already experience a serious season ending injury during during what was shaping up to be one of the best seasons for a WR in South Carolina History!

The fact that he knows how quickly a lifelong dream can be crushed in the blink of an eye, The fact that he knows what it is like to worry if he would ever return to his pre-injury status or ever be able to play football again. The fact that we have recently witnessed one of the best RBs in school history lose out on Millions of dollars and what was sure to be a promising career in the NFL due to 2 fluke injuries all probably weighed in his decision.

You guys who are ready to turn the page, should probably go back and watch all of the great moments that Deebo provided for Gamecock Nation. Yeah if he was in the game, maybe the score would have been different, but I can't be selfish and blame the guy for pursuing everything that he has worked for in his life.

Instead of blaming the guy, maybe you guys should wish him well as a continued ambassador for the University of South Carolina at the next level. Having a top flight WR dominating future NFL talent is probably one of the best things that can help our recruiting.

P.S. Do you think he likely did the team a favor by allowing younger guys to gain priceless practice time and real game experience? How about driving our coaches to work harder to fill the void for next year?

It’s been a while since a report on a WR from SC said he ran good routes. Regardless of your thoughts on his actions that is a good sign on the level of coaching we are receiving at that position now.

I swear it takes a real idiot to not fully understand why Deebo did not play in that bowl game. Talk about selfishness. You want to say he made a selfish decision? All you have to gain by him playing is the satisfaction of watching him and maybe we win the game. Probably not. He had millions of dollars to lose. Who's being selfish?

Yes, I have heard of many players getting hurt at practice. He made himself a couple extra cool million this week. Belk bowl vs several extra million. Maybe a tough decision for you but not so much for someone who experienced a season ending injury. I am not going to say right or wrong but certainly won't bash him for his decision. Reasonable in my mind.

He needed to cap off a great week at the Belk Bowl.
Interesting posters who never raised Deebo and gave him neither food nor shelter want to tell him what he should or should not do. To me he contributed plenty in his career and wore the uniform so I;ll always view him as one of my all time favorite. That catch in the N. C. St. game his first won me over. Without him we lose that game.

There were a number of games that we would not have won the last couple of years without Deebo. His KO returns against NC State and Mizzou were the difference last year. Ole Miss this year. We owe a lot to this young man. I don't blame him and I do not question his dedication or loyalty to his team or school. Screw all of you who want to bash him for not playing in the bowl game particularly with his history of injury.

I have my own opinion. You people can GFY. He quit on his teammates. You A**holes don’t know what kind of impact he would have had in the Bowl game. This Senior Bowl game crap is BS. Why is he playing in this game, if he’s afraid of being injured? He will be doing the same workout for the Scouts on Pro Day in Columbia, so don’t give me that BS.

You’re full of s#*t! That’s YOUR F#*%ing opinion! I only care about the team. I don’t care about anybody’s personal gain. If you don’t have the same objective, you need to play somewhere else. That goes for you faux fans too!
