Edward Aschoff tweet...

SC players recruiting for a transfer QB.. might say a lot for the confidence they have in Mitch who has thrown a handful of passes.

Hope we are not worried about anyone's feelings about possibility of bringing in another QB. If he can help and wants to come here I hope we do it

This is not youth FB. If Mitch is best QB he will play. Doesn't matter who else is on roster. Spurrier wouldn't guarantee anything other than chance to compete

im all for it.....everett golson is a proven quarterback....nobody we have is

I would rather we develop the talent we have and are getting. Bringing in Golson puts all of that development back a year. Golson was a stud in high school and i had the opportunity to see him play in the playoffs his sr year. Boy has a cannon for an arm but he showed no interest in us then and I don't think it helps team chemistry to bring in a one year wonder because he can't earn the starting role at Notre Dame.

BAW had it on his twitter yesterday but it may have been taken down. If they dont have confidence in Mitch, that sounds like its an issue with Mitch. Get better and bringing in someone to compete can only help.

IIRC, we didn't show much interest in him.

I agree rogue. I was doing some work down at Doug Shaw stadium years ago when Golson first went to ND. I spoke to an assistant there and asked him why Golson didnt consider either in-state school. His response was Spurrier didnt want him. I know he committed to UNC early I believe his junior year but we had another chance when he changed his mind to go to ND and we didnt go after him. He wanted to play basketball at UNC and if not for the rumor of probation he probably would have went there even if we went after him at the time. He had an offer out of HS from us but not all offers are ones where we go after them aggressively.

I don't think it has anything to do with confidence in our QB that Carson wants Golson at USC. They know each other and Golson is a SC kid.

Here goes Jeff again. So you would prefer we not pursue him and not have any experience at QB. If he comes here, no guarantee he would beat out Mitch. Spurrier will not guarantee anything other than a chance to compete. Seems like a win win to me

I'm sure this is correct. This may be the only tidbit of inside information I've ever had about the Gamecocks, but I used to live in Murrells Inlet. I hired a guy to cut some trees down in my yard. Turns out he was a really nice, ex college football player who's son played with Golson at Myrtle Beach High. He told me he'd spend a lot of time in the summer working with Golson, his son (who went to ECU) and Carson doing drills and speed work. Based on that conversation, I'd say it's a personal thing that Carson wants Golson at Carolina. I know if it were me, that would be a cool way to spend your last year so I completely understand it. And I'm sure it has nothing to do with any confidence issues with QBs currently on the team.

After watching Golson light up the score boards in SC high school football I can understand why Carson and some of the other players may want Golson.

I understand wanting a qb who has some experience under his belt BUT Golson would be starting from square 1 with our playbook and learning how Spurrier wants the position played within the system. Mitch should be lightyears ahead of anyone who is new to the program just based on him actually having practiced and studied the playbook. I HOPE this is just wanting to improve depth and not a move to find a qb who can do the job. If we are at that point this far in, we are in trouble IMHO.

You said Mitch should be ahead but do we know if that is the case? Golson is a very smart kid. I have no doubt he could learn the offense

So now we wont take transfers because we don't want to hinder the development of this 7-6 team? Wow! With the exception of Connor Shaw, the way all of the other spurrier signed QB's have performed tells me having this guy is not a bad idea!

Ok. If he comes great.
