Fresno State Went 1 - 11 in 2016 -- when Lorenzo Ward was the Defensive Coordinator. (Fresno State's Total Defense ranked 101/127 teams in 2016. Fresno State's Scoring Defense was 118/127 teams and gave up an average of 38 points a game.)
In 2017, Ward was hired by Louisville (coaching safeties) which went a respectable 8 - 5 but which also had former Heisman Trophy Winner Lamar Jackson.
In 2018, Louisville went 2 -10. (Louisville's Total Defense ranked 122/129 teams in 2018. Louisville's Scoring Defense was ranked 127/129 teams and gave up an average of 44 points a game.)
I like to see South Carolina's former coaches do well. Unfortunately, the defenses for the teams Ward coached performed as many South Carolina fans would expect. I hope Ward lands on his feet and that his next team has some success.
