Game Thread ATM vs Gamecocks

I must say that’s the best Oline play I’ve seen around here in a long while. I don’t know what they did on the break but it took hold! Sellers finally lived up to what we’ve all expected, basically won that game off his decision making an athleticism! Nobody is looking forward to playing that team, not that it matters to me, but time for the media to give us some love!

Definitely athleticism, but I’d rather not have him have to do that every week.

Great win. Props to the players and staff for a very complete game in all phases.

If the defense close out the year playing as well as it has this season to date, one would have to believe it would have to be in our Top 3 of all time -- especially given the strength of schedule. I wish we could hang onto Debo Williams until the end of time. He's the lifeblood.

Sellers continues to mature nicely. When he starts running downhill, it's reminiscent of Cam Newton. I hope we can hang onto him for another couple of years as his confidence continues to blossom and obviously his ceiling is sky high.

Also, Sanders is proving to be a very solid back. Really good vision and tenacity on those runs last night with the OL providing some solid holes to work with.

Outside of Wofford, these upcoming games will likely be as tough as the last four. It can be easier to get a team pumped up to play Top 10 opponents on a national stage than to roll into Nashville and try to beat a prolific Vandy team on the road.

Speaking of which, could this matchup be the first time both teams are in the Top 25 when they play? Definitely doesn't happen often. Let's see how it shakes out.

Well let’s hope continues to prove me wrong and we don’t regress back to the mean the rest of this year and continue to get better next year.

Beamer has as many wins as our best coach in history and we're closing out Year 4.

He's also had the toughest road of any coach in history over the same time period.

What does "regress back to the mean" translate to given those factors?

Then let's finish with 9 wins this year with a shot at 10 in the bowl game.

Then let's go out and challenge for the the playoffs next season.

Regressing would be losing 2 more games to finish 7-5

Do you not believe we would all like that?

Do you not believe the team and staff all want that to happen?

Did you call it regressing when Spurrier finished 7-6 in Year 4 beating inferior teams outside of the Top 25?

What exactly are you using for your peg at this point?

Why do you keep bringing up Spurrier? In 2008, Spurrier had a career showing he was a competent coach. It was also a completely different era where we couldn't just go out and buy talent.

Saying Beamer should be treated like Spurrier is nonsensical. They clearly should be treated differently. Now let's see if Beamer can go on and have the same success that Spurrier had.

I see we've reached the point where you know arguing Beamer is as good as Spurrier is a stretch.
Stop talking in circles. If they're both at the same number of wins in close to 4 years, you should be happy with the success.

WJ is also correct that Beamer has had a tougher road than Spurrier did during his tenure for a variety of reasons. The team's play this season is as good as anything Spurrier put on the field in his first 4 seasons. Why not enjoy it instead of being the dark cloud all the time?

You guys are the ones talking in circles. Spurrier was given extra leeway because of his prior success as a head coach.

I just disagree that Beamer has had it harder than Spurrier. If you think Beamer has had it harder than Spurrier with similar results, do you think Beamer is a better coach than Spurrier?

Why not enjoy it instead of being the dark cloud all the time?

Ward Jr is the one who brought this up literally to a post where I literally gave credit to Beamer said Beamer had earned another year.

Can't happen. You already fired "Beamer's Boy" years ago in place for a hotshot coach you couldn't name.

Need evidence? Reference almost any post you've made over the past 3.5 years up until this one.
To hear USCWatson say Beamer deserves another season is so far from anything he has ever said about Beamer, I say, glad he is seeing the light. Leave him alone. It is so good that people are seeing what Beamer is trying to build here.

Stuff like this is why I just don't see how Beamer is ever truly successful here. Hopefully I'm wrong, but from my perspective he just doesn't get it.

We just had the second biggest win in his tenure and he resorts to trying to call out fans. Thin-skinned people rarely make it to the highest levels.

Instead of trying to say he was right about his coordinators, imagine if this defense had a competent offensive coordinator? Our defense is legitimately playoff-worthy.

He's right to address narcissistic howling monkeys like yourself and others. You literally bring nothing to the table other than toxicity and negativity. Not even 24 hours after a huge win, and you are already shitting on the staff again.

And thin-skinned people rarely make it to the highest levels? LOL. You must have missed the last 3 Presidents.

That’s fair, I don’t see what you guys see in thin skinned Trump either.

No, he was just friends with Robert Byrd and didn’t want his kids going to school in a “racial jungle”, along with the signing of the crime bill. Yeah, he didn’t have thin skin, he was just a flat out RACIST!

I’ve never understood the Robert Byrd schtick.

Byrd was literally born in the Carolinas. He was like most of his generation, including your parents or grandparents depending on your age. The difference is Byrd admitted he was wrong and changed his perspective.

It’s 2024, and you guys still think racism is ok.

Hahaha! “He admitted, he was wrong.” Yeah, he pulled the Democrat way and agreed to say it, but still didn’t believe it. You liberals are a hilarious group of they/thems.

I still don’t understand how this is a gotcha?

So Byrd lied to us and was just really a Republican his whole life?

You can bet Vandy won’t let Sellers escape like he did in the A&M game. One or two sacks in that game may have resulted in a much different outcome. We simply must block better against blitzes. Harbor needs to catch the ball.

We'll see.

A&M had the best rush defense in the SEC coming into that game.

Vandy's power is on the offensive side.

We're the Vegas favorite (3.5) as of today vs. Vandy playing in Nashville.

It will be interesting to see which way the betting swings over the course of this week.

Many posters on this forum have called you out for it. No one is out to get you. It might be time to take a hard look in the mirror.

Look in the mirror for what? You're making broad statements and being deceptive to avoid being wrong.

But things like the use of circular logic or ward jr starting the conversation are objective and plain for anyone to see. So I can't be wrong about those.

I agree the pass blocking is still not good. Luckily, Sellers was able to make chicken salad out of chicken shit time and time again. He was simply amazing.

I think the Oline did run block pretty well though. I think some of that was good game planning and play design to take advantage of A&Ms weaknesses particularly on the outside run game. Gotta give Loggains credit there. He really had the Aggies baffled and called a hell of a game.
