We're 40 days away from the Gamecocks playing North Carolina.
1.4️⃣0️⃣ Countdown to Kickoff: 40 days!
Our countdown to South Carolina's 2019 season opener against North Carolina in Charlotte is now down to just 40 days. Today’s featured athlete is reserve placekicker Eddie Buckhouse.
Buckhouse walked on to the team last season after a productive two-sport high school career at Trinity-Byrnes (S.C.) Collegiate School. Buckhouse started at kicker on the football team and was a three-year captain of the soccer team.
Buckhouse is a reserve kicker behind incumbent starter Parker White.

2. SC ProAm begins
The SC ProAm started Sunday afternoon and the first day of action was filled with standout performances from a few Gamecocks.
• Jermaine Couisnard goes off
The redshirt freshman, in his first action in front of a crowd in over a year, didn’t disappoint. He put up 40 points in his ProAm debut, shooting lights out and showcasing a skill set that could easily help next year’s team offensively.
• Alanzo Frink slims down
ProAm play usually isn’t conducive to showing off a big’s talent, but what it does do is show how the move up and down the court. That was what jumped off the page about Frink, who looks to have cut some fat and added muscle heading into his sophomore season. He’s in much better shape and moved really well in the paint on Sunday.
• Freshman standouts
South Carolina is really high on this crop of incoming freshmen and it was easy to see why. Trae Hannibal, who Frank Martin said had the ability to be a star, showcased some elite court vision while big man Wildens Leveque threw down a handful of monster dunks and had a vicious block on Auburn’s Malik Dunbar.

4. Events and Birthdays!
Happy Birthday to Brandon Wilds - An underrated recruit, Wilds committed to the South Carolina over Illinois, Maryland, Arkansas, and East Carolina. Wilds began the 2011 season as the fifth-string tailback but worked his way up the depth chart and when Marcus Lattimore was lost for the season Wilds stepped in and had three 100-yard rushing games (Tennessee, Florida, The Citadel). He missed 2012 with an injury but bounced back and won the Joe Morrison Award as the Offensive Player of the Spring in 2013. Injuries limited Wilds to just seven games that year, totaling 221 yards rushing. In 2014, he rushed for 570 yards, including a 143-yard game against Tennessee. Wilds led the team in rushing in 2015 with 567 yards, going over 100 against Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Texas A&M. He finished his career ranked 20th on the all-time Gamecock rushing list.
