I respect your opinions, of course, but I just don't get the commitment to mediocrity.

Fans whine and moan that there's no commitment to excellence but then insist we should not even pursue a candidate who is a guarantee to win big. The last time we dared to dream big on a coach, we got three 11 win seasons out of it. That was considered a laughable long shot as well. Well, actually, it wasn't even considered that. Spurrier coming here was not even a consideration by anyone at the time...until it happened.

I just cannot imagine how any fan could not want this to happen or at least be pursued.

For a coach like Urban, he can commend that kind of money anywhere. At the risk of offending some on this board, we don't have the "It" factor to bring in a high caliber name like that.

Like I said earlier, there all scumbags. If we're gonna get us one, lets get him on the cheap, like Briles or Freeze. $500k a yr with huge tiered bonus structure. Things start going good and we can rework the deal in 2 or 3.

All them Texas high schools is shady. I think i read where he was like fudging grades or something, there ain't a coach around that hadn't had a talk with the HS spanish or math teacher and been like "hey he needs a little extra help this semester" lol.

I'm just saying we need to decide if we wanna win or not. If we do (and this old man would like to see it before I'm underground!!) I ain't opposed to turning our backs and letting him run things for a couple years. If we ain't about winning, lets just admit thats our identity and we ain't a football school anymore.
