What an embarrassing first half. This is a very flawed team that has regressed severely recently. No defense, turnovers, can't shoot, just a horrible showing. There is no guarantee they even make the Elite 8 much less Final 4. This has been coming on for awhile now.

Its not one game. They have been playing like crap for a few weeks now. The things that are plaguing them today have been plaguing them for the past few games. A great fan like you should know that. That is gone unless they don't lose another game, including the SEC tourney. For a team that was so good a few weeks ago and beat 5 straight ranked teams, 4 by 15 or more, this is not okay, not with the investment we have made in this sport. Regressing is not okay at this level.

They have been flat against competition lately, she didn't play Kitts and Edwards in the 4qtr against Texas, T Johnson has been an apple turnover the last couple of weeks trying to do more than she's capable of, the captains needs to recognize and get the teams straight

Was a terrible display. Worried about the prospects for a final four appearance. However, I not being a Dawn fan, thinks she will right the ship. Time is running out and this team definitely is struggling right now. Maybe the men’s team is rubbing off on them??
Guys, we need to chill just a little. Yes, I will admit Texas took it to us pretty good in the middle and giving UConn 10 extra chances under their basket doesn't help, but the stats don't lie, they were 43% from 3 and made 13-28 to our 3-17, there's your 30 points + the 20 extra rebounds, it's fairly simple to see. Dawn's got some work to do, but it's fixable.
She's made it clear she is a famboy of Joyce and is going to build team around her. Time to pick the guards that work the best and let them play. All other guards can graduate or transfer. Can't keep substituting like hockey. Fulwiley needs to either be the point or transfer to a team that will let her play. And finally we better get a post or else next year isn't going to be any better. Kitts has peaked and is now regressing. She may not be average wnba material at this point. All other post can be given walking papers. Joyce and Watkins could be fun to watch together.
I agree its fixable because they are not that far removed from beating 5 straight Top 20 teams, almost all by double digits, including Texas. That being said, something is off with this team and Dawn said as much herself, something other than basketball. I did not see the level of effort on defense against UConn that I am used to and that is what worries me most. That lack of covering the shooters led directly to UConn's 3 percentage. When they are playing good D like they did against UCheat, the 3 percentage was way lower and that team can shoot them. Ask UConn, they saw it when Tennessee beat them. Time will tell but they can't afford another loss in the regular season. I would love to see the Tessa that carried us in the tourney last year. The one out there now looks slow, timid and unable to hit wide open shots.
I can't argue. I have a lot of faith in Dawn and her staff to show where the girls went wrong in the film room and correct it. There is a good bit of upper-class leadership on this team and they are used to winning and can take hard coaching, so I can see them stepping up. One thing I did see for the first time was three of our players standing under the rim around one UConn player and the UCon player getting the ball, same in the Texas game, that's just plain and simple lack of effort, I have no doubt Dawn can coach that out of them. And the other thing I saw was the ball came off the rim straight to a UConn player more times than, you could call that luck of the bounce, it doesn't happen like that all the time, of course you could also say positioning helps in getting the luck of the bounce and that too is coachable.
Maybe she should worry more about coaching and stop with the commercials and other crap? I can’t stand her honestly
I too, am NOT a fan of Dawn Staley.. Is she a good Women's basketball coach, Absolutely. But I agree she is worried more about commercials, politics and the Eagles than basketball (It Seems to me) right now. Hopefully she will get herself and her team Re-Focused fir the Tournaments.
She's not a "good" women's basketball coach. She's an amazingly great, one of the best ever women's coaches. - She has 3 national titles. "Good" coaches don't have 3 national titles, 8 conference titles, and 8 conference tournament titles, and 4 Naismith National Coach of the year awards.

As Geno said after the game, there are about 7-8 really good teams this year and anyone can beat anyone and more and more teams are pouring huge money into basketball making it tougher every year.
We lost at home for the first time in 70+ games and are currently ranked #6.
We are 23-3 overall and 11-1 in the SEC. With two weeks left in the regular season, we are tied for 1st for the SEC Championship.
We also need to get better this time of the year - as always. This team has one of its best players out for the year and we are not as good as the historically great team we had last year.

It's amazing to me that a down year for this program means still winning the SEC regular season and likely being a one or two seed in the tournament. What a ways things have come since Dawn was hired

Coach K did a lot of commercials going back to the late 1980s- and he didn't win a national title every year.
Andy Reid's team lost the super bowl. He will do a lot of commercials this year as he has for many, many years.

Many coaches give their political opinions. Some of the most famous ones that have done so include:
Dean Smith
Bill McCartney
Mike Leach
Rick Majerus
Pat Summit
Then we have local coaches like Lou Holtz and Eddie Fogler who famously got involved in state politics.
Mike Leach did it for years and most everyone on here loved him for "telling it like he sees it and not giving a damn." Mike even famously posted a fake video of President Obama online that endeared him to many conservatives but resulted in a couple of big donors at Washington State withdrawing their $1.6 million gifts.
Of course, they loved it because he supported and voiced support publicly for Donald Trump.
Mike never won a national championship. He had a losing SEC record. He never won a conference title in his career.
Actually, the university hired her to coach and lead the program. That involves community involvement, and she has every right to speak her mind just as anyone else does on issues that are important to her and her team, her friends, her family, etc.
They didn't hire a robot. They hired a human being who gets to voice her views just like you do.
She has no more need to hide her views on politics than anyone else does - including anyone on here.
