Impact of 2 SEC teams in the playoffs?

What people fail to see is that the playoff really started today, or rather last night. Only Notre Dame's self-imposed situation monkey-wrenches the system.
No monkey wrench....it's Bama, UM, UGA & UC...

Iowa will not beat Michigan...

Here's hoping for a Michigan/Georgia matchup......Go Big Blue!!!!

Bama to win it ALL!!!!

If things stay the same, it’ll be:

#1 Alabama vs #4 Cincinnati
#2 Michigan vs #3 Georgia

They won’t put UGA and Bama playing each other in back to back games. Alabama will jump Michigan and Cincy will stay put.

To answer the question….yes. Every team, generally speaking would move up a notch…though we kind of fall in that category where the bowls will work together to get the teams they prefer.

This hopefully will help the expansion talks. People all over the country, except SEC fans, are going to be pissed as hell that the SEC is half of the playoffs again. Let`s hope it does.
It won't matter about half the teams being from the SEC. There's a good chance neither will win it and people across the country will be in ecstasy.

Does Carolina get bumped up a spot in the pecking order?
Although nearly every response to this thread ignored your question, I won't. I don't think this will move us up in the bowl pecking order. Yes, the SEC got two teams into the playoff, but I think the SEC was going to get 3 teams into New Year's Six bowls either way. The only thing that changed with Bama's win is _which_ New Year's Six bowls those 3 SEC teams go to.

I agree with this scenario. Bama beats Cincy by 30

We lost our chance to move up the pecking order when UF beat FSU.

Who is better than Georgia (lol). Bama and Georgia are the next two teams in country!! Michigan may very well upset UGA but Bama will annihilate Cinn
I think Michigan can give anyone a run for their money. So what if Georgia is better they had their chance. You can’t tell me with 100% certainty that ND isn’t better than Georgia. That’s not possible. But I can tell you Alabama Is better than Georgia and college football is short. Bama shouldn’t have to beat Georgia twice in the championship period.

Georgia’s best win here people is a #20 Clemson team.

Michigan is sewing up their game now and look capable of winning it all.

And what is Notre Dames credentials. I would put lots of money on UGA if they played ND (all things being equal). And you can only tell me (with certainty) that Bama was better than UGA last night. If they played again, I believe it may end up differently.

I respect your opinion, but I do not believe "neither team will win it". I believe an SEC team will win it, and even believe it will be a UGA/Bama final. I think, as in several previous years, the Big 10 isn't prepared for the level of competition in the SEC. Even SoCar has a 4-1 all time combined record against Michigan and Ohio St. Maybe this year will be different. Time will tell.

That’s just it there shouldn’t be second chances in championship time. You don’t know for a fact Georgia would beat notre dame. I just don’t feel like a team that loses in the conference championship deserves to be in the playoff. Period end of story.

Well I agree the loser shouldn't get in over the team that won (like Ohio St. did one year), but otherwise, I give more credit to the conference championship loss if that was the only loss on the resume. Michigan lost to Michigan State, but beat Iowa for the championship. Should Michigan's loss have kept them out because, theoretically, their loss was against a team that wasn't as good as Iowa?
The subject of our discussion is supposed to be the reason there is a playoff committee. The more you (we) discuss, the thicker the argument, and the more contradictions we uncover.
I would like to see the BEST 4 teams in the playoffs, regardless of record, but I believe we seldom see that. There is still too much politics involved.

Michigan, much as I hate them, looks like the most complete team out there to me. I can't spot a weakness.

Folks should not schedule them until they join a conference. Let them ply service academies and 4 ACC teams
I would be good with that, but I don't expect it to happen. Remember, they also didn't play in bowls for decades and still got voted the National Championship when Parseghian first got there - Hanratty's senior year, 1966, I think. They didn't even play the day all the other top teams were putting it out there - the last such day of the season - and got voted the national championship. I knew then I would never pull for them. I'm laughing at their calamity this year.

Or when we let taters come to our house and push us around at every position all nite
Sadly I'm not so sure a 7-5 gamecock team would have moved past a 6-6 gator team when it comes to sec bowl ties. Better for us would be for UF not to have qualified at all.

Its all about keeping schools close now. Everyone forgets how schools are still reeling from the rona. We will probably stay within 5 hrs of Columbia.

In MY EYES< and those of the Committee (which is the ones that count) , UGA is better than ND... Sorry, its a UGA vs Bama rematch in title game. Michigan cant score against the SEC talent, speed and size, they played well but loses to UGA 28-17. Bama beats Cincy 38-10 after Bama calls off dogs in 4th qtr Cincy scres a Mop up TD

I disagree with this strongly. The games (record) should actually matter.

I kNOW Y'all dont care what my opinion is. but, But 3 of the best Teams are in!! Not sure who the 4th best team is, But Cincy got in beacuse they won every game, Played Noone except an "Average" ND team. Easy to get up for ONE GAME!! play good teams week in week out, the schedule even an OK state played..

Well based on that...I guess we'll see what Cincy is made of want we....

I'm one who doesn't care for it. In my mind, Alabama has already eliminated Georgia. Why do they need to do it again? Put another team in there.

The BCS would have given us Bama vs Michigan.

I love how all the whining after LSU/BAMA in 2011 lead to a playoff that potentially could give us a Bama/Georgia final ten years later. 😂
