In the beginning, Dabo Swinney was (supposedly) in over his head. Shane Beamer is (supposedly) in over his head.

Swinney, a WR coach, turned realtor, turned WR coach was in over his head.
Great recruiter. smiled a lot. Motivator. Communicator.
Terry Don Phillips had a man crush on him. Saw potential leadership.
Elevated him (probably to a post everyone thought too lofty).

Swinney had some lean years.
Swinney made some executive coaching fires/hires. (Some were long time friends or colleagues.)
Swinney eventually won 2 championships and multiple acc crowns.
But, YES, in the beginning he was in over his head.

And, yes.....if he were in the SEC it would have been much harder. But, they did beat Bama twice. Boat raced them in one of the games.

*&*&!?()$

Beamer is in over his head, at present.
No debating this.

TE coach. Never a Coordinator.
Woo’d Tanner and Caslon with a well prepared, well scripted, spirited, interview.
And now, he’s swimming in the deep, in over his head.

But, like Swinney/clemson...it ain’t over ‘til it’s over.

Shane also has recruiting and relational and communicating and motivational qualities.
Smiles, Easy to like.
Sound familiar?

Time will tell if he has the CEO/Leadership qualities to effectively assess his staff as this thing progresses.

Don’t give up on Shane Beamer.
Don’t jump off of the Shane train.
He has a good football bloodline.

He’s not out of 1st gear yet.
Year 1, game 4.

Shane inherited MUCH more of a mess than Swinney did.

And, he’s challenged with this competing IN THE SEC.

Go Gamecocks.
