Lenoir (NC) Hibriten LB Quin Smith will arrive in Columbia on Sunday. The sleeper Tarheel State product was a nice pickup for Carolina on the recruiting trail last year and was a very productive player in high school. During his recruitment, Carolina mainly talked with him about playing linebacker but he could be capable of playing SPUR or fullback at the next level.

Signee Chaun Gresham also should arrive on Sunday. The former Georgia Tech commitment was turned from the Yellow Jackets by coach Shane Beamer. Gresham has good size and will start out at linebacker.

Damario Jeffery is clear to report on Sunday and will give Carolina one of the stud defenders they signed in the Class of 2009. Jeffery is recovered from his injury, has been working out and should be able to
compete for playing time this year.

JUCO OL Steven Singleton's summer class is longer than originally thought and based on what I've heard it's looking like it might be the start of fall camp before we see him.

Based on a couple of things I have heard, I would not be surprised if Duane Chisolm ends up at a JUCO, however, nothing is final with him and prep could still be a possibility.

Football Recruiting: Class of 2010

There was an article on the front page earlier about Daytona Beach (FL) Mainland WR O.J. Ross. He is a very good receiver in my opinion that can stretch the field and would be a good asset to Carolina's team. He is no hurry and will likely take all of his officials; I believe South Carolina will have a great shot at him. He cited USC and West Virginia as the two schools in which he had the best relationships with the respective coaching staffs.

A quick update on Jacksonville (FL) Bishop Kenny TE Neil Basford: He is still trying to see when he can visit some more schools like South Carolina, but is unsure as to when it will happen. It could still be Thursday or Friday of this week but I hear that it could also be rescheduled to another date. Either way, Basford is a guy that is highly interested in South Carolina and someone that they are interested in as well.

You all will have to wait a bit longer to hear about OL Seantrel Henderson, as the big man's visit to South Carolina has been postponed for a while; it should happen sometime in July. I've heard Henderson's basketball team will play in the Southeast towards the beginning of July, so that is a possibility as well as other times during the month.

Ft. Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas CB Keion Payne should be on USC's campus in July. He's in the process of trying to narrow his list down, sitting down with his coach and family to do so. The in-state schools are, of course big contenders for the three-star corner, but Carolina is in there and Payne has interest in seeing what the Gamecocks have to offer.

Basketball Recruiting

South Carolina will continue to watch Columbia (SC) Ridge View F Michael Green this year; I understand that Green has some academic hurdles that he has to overcome, but he is a guy to keep your eye on for the Class of 2010 as USC wants to see how he will develop.

I spoke with a source about Winston-Salem (NC) Quality Education F Quincy Miller who told me that despite the big-time offers for the big man, South Carolina is still going to be a factor. Miller has been to Columbia a couple of times and could return in the near future. He also has a family connection to the state and likes the coaching staff. South Carolina was described to me as "a great fit" for Miller because of the coaching staff and the style of play.

Carolina is also looking at one of Miller's teammates, guard Stargell Love. The 6-foot-2 Love plays for Quality Education and D-One Sports (AAU) with Miller. He is an aggressive scoring guard and could also be on campus in the near future with Miller.
