Is the SEC backed into a corner relative to Texas & OU? If both are indeed going to make a move

some conference is going to take them, in fact most conferences would love to have them. So, does the SEC take them before one of the other conferences accepts them thus making the other conference better than the SEC. Example if the BIG took them then that might make them a better football conference than the SEC! It's just a thought I had I don't know what is going on with the powers that be. LOL!

B1G won't take Oklahome or Okie State. I still believe that this could be a ruse by UT to force a B1G offer for them and Kansas while keeping OU at bay. IIRC the B1G has seemingly always been where UT wanted to end up.....money is simply too good to pass up.

I’d say it has a lot to do with A&M getting on the national stage in the SEC and UT playing second fiddle. Idk how it shakes out but those are some prideful folks out there and being in the SEC would bring instant credibility back to their program.

I thought joining the SEC was our path to the college football promised land. Now, after three decades, I wonder if the ACC would not be a better fit for us. I miss playing NC State, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and the others.
Playing ATM, Auburn, and Alabama haven’t been a lot of fun. I know the money has been good, but other than Spurrier’s three 11 win seasons, I enjoyed the 80’s more. I think we could consistently get to 8 wins or more in the ACC.
I realize this isn’t a popular opinion with many, so you don’t have to flame too hard. Just floating a thought over a cup of coffee.

I prefer playing legit college teams. Not a schedule comparable to high school. So you would rather watch us vs wake forest than say UGA, Tenn, or Auburn? That's not exciting. Sure right this moment we are even with some of those ACC teams, but normally we would be top 3 in the ACC just by showing up. Then there's the money side of things. We would still be in the old basketball and baseball stadiums. Williams Brice would still be behind on renovations. The list goes on and on.

I agree with most of what you say, except we just have to show up to be in the top 3. That is not the case. The last time we played Florida State, we lost. The last time we played UNC, we lost. The last time we played Virginia, we were blown out. Every time we play Clemson, we lose. We are a middle of the pack ACC school too.

So on your same line I could ask you…
“So you would rather watch us play Vandy instead of North Carolina or Virginia Tech of Florida St”?
You clearly took the worst team as your ACC example. In basically 3, yes THREE years were we what I would call superiors to the ACC. Besides, the wins are what get you to the spot where you do actually play someone strong and play for something. I don’t think being in the ACC for the last 30 would see us no worse off in national perception at least.
I’m not advocating for a move. But after 30 years of this it’s pretty evident we will remain an undercard at Wrestlemania instead of the main event.
But hey, we were in Wrestlemania.

If we were actually were dumb enough to go back to the ACC, USC might as well tarp off the upper deck. With the exception of Clemson, 78K aren't going to show up to watch us play teams like Wake, Pitt, GT. I could go on, but I'm sure you get the point. I'm not a big proponent of adding OU and TX, but I'd much rather add them then go back to the ACC.

when have we been "top 3 just by showing up"?

Seems that SC always adjusting their schedule to accommodate long-standing SEC rivalries they were never part of in first place 👎🏿 If I'm SC, why do I care about keeping other SEC teams in-conference rivalries ? 🏈

They need us, we dont need them. The SEC will never be backed into a corner.
I hope we dont let them in.
The way Finebaum is talking the whole thing is "way down the road". It appears it has been going on for a while because Texas and OU hired a law firm to contact the SEC and have been working behind the scence for who knows how long.

The SEC has them right where it wants them. Either it happens or it doesn't. But the money issues involved in leaving the Big 12 will have to be worked out. That was a foregone conclusion.

Do you know the difference in money from the ACC to the SEC?

If you wanna be the best, you gotta beat the best.

with a FULL, rested and Uninjured Roster, where the second string has palyed as much as the first!!
A "weaker" conference schedule didn't hurt Clemson at all....even while losing to us, they took advantage of it and sold that conference success to the recruits. Neither did it hurt FSU before them. I believe USC could make more progress getting to the upper levels in the ACC than in the SEC.

Oh without a doubt, instead of Playing the likes of Fla, Ga, Tenn, A&m etc etc they play the likes of Wake, GT, Duke, Syracuse, BC etc etc

And this point we are no where close to being in the top 3 in the ACC..not even the top 8

College football will continue to evolve and follow the money. You will either sit ideally by (See the ACC) or be aggressive and be the king (See the SEC). I can see within the next 5 to 10 years there will be 5 Power Conferences with 16 teams each and everyone else is screwed.
