Matt Moore vs Colin Kaepernick...discuss

The majority of my friends are active duty or retired and I can tell you for a fact most of them support CK . Some vehemently. Others who may not agree with him or his platform but respect his RIGHT to do it. That’s my experience . Cracks me up how many people go take a leak or buy beers during the Anthem and that apparently is ok . Yeah it’s not right but neither are dirty cops abusing their power especially against minorities and if you don’t believe it happens EVERYDAY your not paying attention . I totally see your perspective , if I see a guy stepping on or burning a Flag I’ll stomp their ass on the spot but I don’t see taking a knee as the same thing . Especially when Bubba is walking to his seats doublefisting $8 Natty Lights while the Anthem is being played . Again I totally get your perspective and understand . Some just see things differently and that’s why this country is so great .

This.

I was Army. I agree with Bullfrog 100 percent. Hell, our founding fathers believed in rebellion and freedom of speech.
I don't agree with CK's take, but to my way of thinking he's shown a lot of guts and he has EVERY right to protest.

Maybe you should check out this site: https://www.votevets.org/

I have wondered why the CK’s of the world protest the USA. I really cannot see why this country is so bad. Those who think that way usually forget to compare the US. with other countries, not with some utopian, make believe nation. We are not perfect but talk to me about a better place.

Part of what makes the country great is that you get to protest the parts about it you don't like without fear of retribution. I think some of us want citizens to act like North Koreans and honor the great leader at all times.

I was US Navy Airman.
Our Founding Fathers rebelled for the cause of Freedom from repression, not to be smart a$$es and desecrate the US Flag and National Anthem in the process. In fact they were Proud flag bearers.

Thanks to you for yours as well. I know guys from my time who are all over the fence about this, some think CK is a hero, others think he's a traitor, etc. I'm of opinion he has the right, whether I agree with him or not.

You need me to post the pictures of him wearing "pig socks" that represented the police? I can. YES...YOU c'mon.....the guy is a communist. Pure and simple. Call a spade a spade and move on.

No. He isn’t anything

He is just being difficult and anti- authority

Doubt he really stands for, or knows anything about anything other than bitching

Oh he has the right to be a horse’s a$$ alright, but that doesn’t make it right to desecrate the US Flag.
It makes me want to vomit when I see such behavior by grown men acting like a spoiled brat.

Freedom of Speech

Not Freedom of consequence

He doesn’t have a job. Boo hoo
I never said I had a problem with owners not hiring him. However, I think some owners are crazy for not kicking the tires if CK would come cheap. What I know about real NFL fans is that they always get over it. Fans said they would never come back to the game over Michael Vick. Wrong. CK supporters said they would never watch another game until he had a job. You have a few holdouts, but for the most part, they came back too. So, owners should not be scared of the politics regarding CK. Trump even said it by stating CK should be back in the league if he is good enough. In fact, as a Panther fan, I have said they should kick the tires on CK for 3 years. Perfect backup for Cam and the Panthers would not have to change their offense. The issue would be could Cam handle having some actual competition from a backup for a change.

I'm glad he talked former Green Beret Nate Boyer. Compromising from sitting to kneeling was a sign of respecting the Military. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...BRAB&usg=AOvVaw2L1Kd9MrZia4QqB2pnenHz&ampcf=1

My wife was in the Navy at the time all this started going down. I can attest that the overwhelming sentiment among all our Navy friends was anti-Kapernick. In particular, she was stationed at Walter Reed where the Wounded Warrior program is. Those guys had NO use for him at all.

And I can understand why . Many of my friends are Airman at Elgin and Tyndall and many of them are Boycotting the NFL UNTIL Kapernick gets a job on an NFL roster . It’s pretty much split down the middle from my experience.

You are correct . They also rebelled because they were being abused by an oppressive regime that was abusing its power . Sounds kinda familiar. Again , Thank you for your service and I get it and understand why you would have a problem with it . Again I can disagree with the Act but totally support the reasons why he did it . Let’s be honest .. if CK and Eric Reid would have worn a wristband to stand against social injustice would we be talking about it on a national level ?? Nope . Again no disrespect.

He denigrated the UNITED STATES of AMERICA Flag.
And he denigrated all the United States Veterans and Armed forces who lay their lives on the Line for sick, worthless trash like him.
Does this honor veterans? Does it preserve the integrity of the flag?

I STILL do not understand WHY? Why did he want to sit, kneel or lay down in the first place?
What specifically was he protesting; the NFL, The United States, or what?
From what I've read its Law Enforcement and the whole Judicial system. More than 8 of 10 police officers surveyed by the Justice Department said they’ve witnessed fellow officers using excessive force - while 61 percent declined to report the abuse. It's alarming Police fear each other. Me personally I think it is impossible to fix. Body Cam footage helps. My buddy is a cop he's told he about 1/3 of the cops he works with shouldn't be a cop.

Not at all. I am critical of his view. I have not read anyone on this site who has said he doesn’t have the RIGHT to do it. I don’t like him because he is ignorant of our history. And, I have the right to hate the bastard if I chose.

CK does not help his cause. Another study said the his protest only polarized 62% of those interviewed. Another 10% did not care. Incidentally, he has now, twice changed the explanation as the his motive.

The overwhelming majority of people shot and/or arrested by police are male. Same with the prison population. Colin needs to use his other knee for that.

Lol. Love it. Nothing to say cause you know everything I said is 100% legit and this time you literally cannot refute it. #nailedtothewall

Are you for real? Legit question. You post (your opinion) CK is a Communist. I reply (thats how message boards work, people post, others read, some reply) asking you what CK has done or said that you think alligns with the idealogies of the Communist Party. You basically answer with non-sense and 12 year old name calling.

Also by the way, folks who are actually Communist think the worst thing you can do is be critical of the federal government and Dear Leader. Think Tiananmen Square.

Wow. While you are at it, why don't you go ahead and throw out all kinds of non-sense FOX branded, conservative boogey words about CK......is he a socialist, an immigrant, a Mexican, an achor baby, etc etc. It all pretty equal non-sense.

Not sure I agree with the communist label on him but I can understand why someone may think that. CK was wearing a shirt with Castro and when asked about it, went on to defend Cuba's school system. While they may be incorrect, it's not like people are pulling this out of thin air.
Personally, I don't care enough about him to find out what exactly all his opinions are. I quit watching the NFL when the players started boycotting the anthem. I don't care if they're male, female, white, black, tall, short. I choice to spend my viewership dollars elsewhere.
Not sure if it fits the narrative in this thread, but I also choose to not watch Megan Rapinoe and whatever team she plays for. Wait, but she's not...

When has a Fox on air personality said it was bad to be an immigrant or a Mexican? Now, if you think being a socialist or the idea of anchor babies are good ideas then you have the brains of an actual fox.

Kaepernick was washed up before his ignorant protest. He got beat out by Blaine Gabbert years ago.

LAWCALCOK,
While I have been treated very respectfully by white cops who have highway stopped me in Carolina and now In Georgia,
I also find it offensively insensitive for you to flippantly dismiss Capernick BY saying "his IGNORANT protest ."

His I g n o r a n t. protest ? ? ?

Whether or not you self feel
it distracts you from football, explain to me why anyone cannot see that the issue of police brutality is RELEVANT to AMERICA ?
So, I don't see ANY "ignorance".
Now, I COULD have felt you IF you had just said:
I wish he would not go protesting AT the game. I would have respected you more.

Not fake news. Fact. He hates America. He said kneeling wasn't about the flag......until Nike wanted to release the Betsy Ross shoes. Whooops...then it was about the flag. Like I said, He's a communist.

So... CK was offended by this shoe design.....

If I was black,I probably would've had a problem with Company I'm working for selling merchandise with the 1776 flag. When that flag was flown black people were treated like livestock with no rights. To me it represents independence and Freedom. I'm sure some Black people don't see that flag as Independence and Freedom.
…but this same flag was featured prominently at Barack Obama's second-term inauguration in 2013....
betsy-ross-flag-Obama-inauguration-tw.jpg

Why didn't CK speak out about this outrage?!?!?!

Maybe we should just re-design our flag to be all white, as in surrender to the forces of the politically correct who see America as irredeemably corrupt and racist.

Ignorant is not being used by me as name calling. I mean it in it’s true meaning: uninformed. He displays his ignorance by suggesting the USA is a bad place. People who believe that are not informed. They tend to want to compare the USA with some utopia which exists only in their minds. I realize there is and never has been another country to compare to America. There are many areas where we can improve, no doubt. Nowhere on this planet can offer a better life. The underlying theme seems to be the the USA is racist, otherwise, we would not practice police brutality. There is also the fact that he has alienated the very people who could have been the most helpful to the cause. Someone on this site suggested he brought attention to his cause, not realizing that the type of attention can be helpful OR NOT helpful. In this case NOT. His cause is one of two; he is either ignorant or he is using the old leftist tactic of moving the Overton Window. Which brings on accusations of communism or socialism.

To think Americans were not aware of his cause have not been paying attention. How could anyone have missed the Ferguson and other stories. In case you have missed it, of those who have commented on this site, not one person has said he did not have the right to do it. Of those who support his antics start their conversation with “ He has the right to do what he is doing.” Which is not the argument. Similar to the argument about climate change. There is no doubt the climate is changing, but those who don’t agree with any part of the hypothesis are deniers. Many like me would would fight in the streets against police brutality, and count me in on antiracist crusades. But to demean our country and its flag for what he says is his cause is ignorance.

What I see in this post is what I see in a lot of discussions whenever the issue of race comes up. Some tend to over-personalize and make it about some indictment on them or the country. When an officer does something bad (if proven to be true), it is not about you or the country. It is about that officer being held personally accountable. When that officer in North Charleston shot that man in the back and tried to cover it up. That wasn't about you. He ultimately was held accountable and there were no issues. What about all the times that does not happen? Most times officers are justified in what they do. However, sometimes we have tragic stories of abuse that go unchecked in the name of protecting the shield. That is unacceptable at least to me. That is what CK is addressing. Now, you may not agree with the protest. However, would you be talking about it and even pay attention to it if it was done some other way. The attention being paid to this is exactly why CK or any effective protestor does it this way. You do it in a fashion to shock the conscience enough to spark debate. That is not saying the country is bad. That is just an effective way to protest.

It’s 2019, this started in 2016, this will never go away. Kap - 1 Anti-Kaps - 0. He may not be in the NFL, but he’s now got plenty of money from one of the richest, most polarizing companies in the world. How’s the boycott coming? That one from the fall still on? Did it overlap with the Betsy Ross one? I can’t keep up. I’m not nearly as invested in this as others with too much time, but to my knowledge, I never saw one verified interview (or quote) showing exactly what he said, just that he apparently reached out to Nike because he didn’t like the era that the Ross flag represented, not the flag itself. I still believe he never said anything, but rather it was an easy move by Nike to associate his name with a product (with a flag) that most people think he’s always objected to. It was a masterful strategy. It only alienated people that a) already boycotted Nike in the fall, when his commercial aired. b) only alienates those hardcore message board protesters whose athleticism could barely help them run a lap. Their target audience is still there.

They may be down a few bucks, but billions (with a B) will still be made this year.

P.S. I would touch on what he does in his public service to others, but no one is interested in that.

I would never claim that Reagan walked on water and is a candidate for sainthood. Having said that, I'm quite confident I can name a number of scandals associated with your favorite / perceived best president of the past 50 years.

I do not think it is effective. That is one of my points. We have made great progress in race relation in my lifetime. That progress was slowed down after Dr. King. The resistance today is because of CK’s ignorance. He does not realize that shedding light on the subject will reveal a different story than his.

Unless you are going to count the stars, the current flag was flown during that time period as well. I don't see how the 1776 flag is any different than the current flag in that regard. How is it different than any symbol of the United States? Here is the last flag flown when slavery was in full bloom. Why is the current flag not as odious, it looks the same?

People like to glamorize Dr. King now, but the things said about King back in the 60's are the things said about Kap now. My problem with Kap is that he has not articulated himself enough post-protest regarding what he would like to see from police departments. Also, he seems reluctant to discuss the issue of police brutality now. It is like he made an emotional decision to protest unaware of what that really would mean for him down the road. As a protestor, you have to accept that many that are comfortable in the status quo will think you are an a**hole. You have to understand it, almost revel in it, and be willing to talk. That is why Muhammad Ali was so revered. He reveled in his villain status until the tide turned in his favor.

To me and you it might be the same to a black person it might be different.
