- Muschamp asked about Frank Martin, Dawn Staley's runs and other sports at USC. He notes the success of those sports and baseball. He's researched Dawn's program and where it was and how it's now one of the elite programs, and also praised how Martin has turned the program in five years. "There's no doubt it helps us," Muschamp said. They can show guys that it does take a little time and that in 2015 the program won three games.

- The investment in athletics is being noticed by prospects and coaches, Muschamp said. The indoor, 650 Lincoln, the forthcoming football operations facility, future upgrades in Williams-Brice, and the Dodie are all state of the art. Muschamp said that nobody knows more about winning a championship at USC than Ray Tanner and that this is the first time USC has made a total commitment to athletics as far as facilities.

- How has the team come along with toughness and physicality? Muschamp said they had to push them and pull them on the field a bit last spring but they've embraced the physicality of it. They've made some positive strides but they won't really know until they line up against NC State.

- Injuries: Muschamp was disappointed about Dreak Davis because he needed this spring. Frustrated with another soft tissue issue; they're working through it. He'll be fine in August.

AJ Turner's practiced the last couple days. They'll see if he can go on Saturday. DJ Park had a shoulder injury that wasn't serious; they'll see about him on Saturday.

Sadarius Hutcherson will probably be out with an ankle injury, but nothing serious.

- Skai Moore can contribute in any system, Muschamp said. There's very little coaching involved as far as his instincts and he runs very well. He has pass-rush ability but can play in space. He's in really good health, missed one or two practices after twisting his ankle. He'll get some snaps on Saturday.

- Muschamp said he got to be good friends with Billy Donovan at Florida just how he has at USC with Frank Martin. As far as the team concept, you have to worry about the process and things it takes to be successful instead of looking ahead to winning. That helps you win. Philosophically, Martin and Muschamp are very similar as far as team building, Muschamp said. Deebo Samuel, Hayden Hurst, Zack Bailey, Jake Bentley, Alan Knott, Cory Helms are guys that they'll count on. Skai Moore is a leader defensively, and he's missed a year of football but he's played a lot of football.

- A caller asks about practices between preseason and the first game and how they can get freshmen acclimated to the system. Muschamp notes you can have 29 practices, but USC will use 27 or 28. It depends on the health of your time. The further you move away from the ball, the better chance you have to contribute. It can happen, OL DJ Humphries started for Muschamp at Florida as a true freshman for an 11-win team.

The LBs need to come in and help early, Muschamp said. Three scholarship linebackers are on campus right now. Secondary guys need to come in and help too. Offensively, they feel pretty good positionally but they do need some guys to come in and help. Chad Terrell mentioned first, with the other offensive guys also mentioned. The coaches have to weigh investing reps in a young player vs. an older guy who maybe hasn't contributed as much. Some guys are ready later in the season as opposed to game one.

Muschamp said there's so much going on with football, class, etc., and every guy ultimately hits a wall early on. Guys have a hard time being on their own, curfew, or other things. Muschamp said having done it for a long time, you can see those things coming sometime.

- One caller who hoped to attend the call-in show but is heading over to Phoenix, asks about Stephon Taylor and Aaron Thompson as well as Shameik Blackshear. Need to be more consistent, Muschamp said. Dante Sawyer's done a nice job, Stallworth's had a good spring, and DJ Wonnum's going to be an effective pass-rusher. Beyond that, they need to be more consistent up front. They all have room for improvement.

Blackshear missed an entire year of lifting and he's catching up. Consistency in performance makes you a good player. Good players don't have bad days, Muschamp said. Young players on the lines of scrimmage, it's hard for them to sustain.

- Jake Bentley and the QBs: Jake's had a really good spring. Been productive and has command of the offense. He was successful on two one-minute drives today. There's been some good coverage at times this spring and he's made some good throws where you have to tip your hit. He has been able to change some protections and do a lot of things they weren't able to last year. They're able to be more formation-varied.

Scarnecchia has arm talent. You miss an entire year of playing football and the position, it's hard to get better. He's made some good throws and decisions and continues to speed up.

- Ty'Son Williams has looked very good. Rico's had a good spring. Ty'Son had a frustrating year having to sit out, but he's a one-cut, tough runner. Those guys and AJ Turner, plus Mon Denson, they've been pleased with him.

- For Saturday - 12 minute quarters, first kickoff will be live. Sounds like Charlton may get a chance to kick-off. QBs will not be live. They're going good on good. Black will be the first group, garnet will be second group. They'll rush the punters, but punts will be fair caught.
