No improvement, same old cocks

Beamer’s post game interview with ESPN was strange, I mean he nearly cried over a win against a bad ECU team. He talked about all the things his guys went through last year, what team didn’t go through a tough time last year? COVID presented unprecedented challenges for every team.

Hopefully he just got caught up in the emotion but the comments seemed tone deaf.
Not every team in America lost the coach they committed to play for in the middle of a Covid year. Fact is we beat a team on the road, that we were only favored by 4 to beat, when we didn’t play well. It’s who we are right now…not very good. He’s aware of this.

For a team that went 2-8 and had a lot of negativity surrounding it…it’s easy to see why he felt the way he felt. He’s with these guys every day. I’m sure he’s developed a love for the guys on the team. He also knows how bad it would’ve felt for them to lose.

I don't agree that the defense is much improved. We have played inferior competition. Besides going to sleep on the first play of the game, our line got handled much of the time by the opponent. We were the beneficiary of 5 or 6 dropped passes by ECU that could have completely changed the game in their favor. We didn't stop them, they stopped themselves. It wasn't good defense, it was good fortune. I don't think we can rely on that this Saturday nor next Saturday.

Yeah we are going to get abused Saturday. Then everyone is going to be like, "It's only one game. We showed so much improvement the first two games. They just regressed and played back to their Muschamp coaching."

They are tackling better, it isn’t rocket science. You just don’t want to see anything positive
Last year we were extremely awful. This year we are just awful. So I guess you could say they are better if you want, but that isn't saying much. I thought ECU did a better job of tackling than we did. They won a number of one on one open field battles. We didn't break many tackles at all.
