Notre Dame vs South Carolina Game Thread

Thank you to the players who stuck around and did their best to win this game today. Thank you for putting the name on the front of the jersey ahead of the one on the back.

The 2022 USC Gamecocks: A 9 win roster with an 8 win heart.

The quitters abandoned their team.

I agree. Beamer and the players who played played their hearts out.

It was their coward quitter former teammates that abandoned them that caused this depth crisis
Exactly...the defensive line got tired but what more could you ask from them? I didn't think the secondary played their best game but both lines did very well! Rattler and Wells both didn't look the same without Vann and Brooks out there. Wells found out what it was like when you don't have other great talent out there with you. ND made him a non factor.

I'm proud of the way the guys played. Would have liked to see us call a better game for them but we are what we are right now. Ain't like we can fire the OC.

I have nothing but pride for the guys on that field tonight. And the coaches did an incredible job putting something together with a depleted roster. They played their hearts out!!! So did Notre Dames kids.

We must never remember the QUITTERS for anything they ever did at USC other than their final act: Quitting.

Yep but hard to gameplan an offense with so many bodies missing. Quitter Bell, Quitter Lloyd and Quitter Wonnum would have contributed a lot tonight.

Some of you have had a change of heart. When Deebo opted out of the bowl game, there were many here who jumped all over us who called him out. Go ahead and say it was different - but it wasn’t. He was healthy and he sat it out. Just like a lot of these guys did today.

The sad part is we will never really know who was the better team. The team that rolled UT and beat Tater tech wasn't on the field tonight. Congrats to the Irish but......

If Beamer doesn't make coaching changes on the Oline and Dline, he needs to go after year 3
D line played damn good for being depleted…..it’s the young DBs that made some critical mistakes on big plays that hurt more. Losing that many starters makes a difference….proud of the fight.

A few weeks ago I thought I hope Lloyd comes back…….started feeling different as game got closer. Now, I wouldn’t take him back if I were a coach.

Yep, Ive never been prouder of this team, they fought so damn hard tonight. And I’ll NEVER forget the quitters who abandoned them. Nothing they ever did here will change their final act as a Gamecock: quitting on their team.

And for whoever mentioned Debo….yeah, that sucked. We knew he had a nasty history of hamstring pulls. His hamstring may not have been pulled at the time but I didn’t consider him “healthy”, if you’ve ever had hamstring issues you know that its a terrible cycle and a recently pulled one never really heals until you sit for a long time, its always on the verge of pulling again

I wouldnt take any of the quitters. Give me all the kids who fought their hearts out tonight. The quitters don’t deserve to take the field w these guys ever again

I couldnt care less about those guys. But when a mentioned play calling, I wasnt referring to a game plan... more like calling plays based on what the ND defense was giving. We werent very good at that tonight

Yeah it wasnt pretty. Im sure not having some of those quitters changed things. Quitter Bell was a weapon but obviously abandoned USC. ND started getting a lot of pressure and Quitter Wonnum not blocking definitely hurt.

Ya know, thinking back, our gameplan might not have been all that bad considering a gameplan is really only good for a couple of possessions. Our first few possessions were pretty good. Then add to that points on turnovers and that's a lot of points. Our problems started when we failed to adjust to NDs adjustments. Hopefully that's the last time that's a problem for us... because it wasnt the first. Used to happen a lot with Muschamp.

Yeah. Notre Dame is very physical and disciplined so vs a depleted roster, we knew we were gonna gas out and their vanilla fundamental football would wear on us.

I think the gameplan was a little desperate but they needed to build a big lead quick, force ND out of their run game, and hope to hold on. That’s probably why we had so many trick plays and fakes installed, try for that KO punch early.

The gutless quitters who depleted this roster put these players and coaches in this difficult situation, and DAMN they almost pulled it off!!! So proud of them

Well Notre Dame wasn't playing at full strength, so the quitter narrative really doesn't work. We made no adjustments on offense and Notre Dame did on defense. We lost. There is no mystery here.

I’m also proud of our FB team given the departures. Actually thought we were going to run away with another blowout. Very entertaining with a lot of lessons learned. Was definitely worth it for fans who made the trek to Jacksonville.

Now let’s take about ole Clemsuck. I’m absolutely enjoying the fact that the good ole Gamecocks and Tennessee hung exactly 31 points on Clemsuck! What’s the probability of two SEC teams scoring the same score on an ACC opponent. Nice for bragging rights for sure. Also we have one of the best kickers in the country. I actually started to feel remorseful given how many failed field goal kicks by Clemsuck?

My 2 cents…

I read some of y’all called this a spring game equivalent. If so, personally I liked what I saw. Yeah, we need better conditioning. Probably need to evaluate the O-line, but given the losses prior to this game, we played a respectable game.

It may be true that they had players out also however that doesn't change the fact that we would have been better at full strength.
Can't control what players at other schools do but we certainly can birch at our own for laying out

Ehhhh, unless portal rules change, this is the future of college football. Looked like the boys were having fun, and that's what matters at this juncture. With the exception of the cfp games bowls are mere scrimmages.
