OT: But I cannot believe that the case of the little Cayce girl hasn't even been mentioned here...

My wife taught the little girl as a special area teacher. She says she was the sweetest child. It has been a rough week.

As a teacher I’m praying for your wife and any teachers and students at Springdale. I attended that school as a child. It’s a great place. That entire community would’ve been over there in minutes if the police allowed it. I’m sure they had their reasons for keeping people at bay. At least I hope so.

Coty Scott Taylor, 30 was the man (other body). He was found in his home and they connected the two bodies by what they found in the man's trash-can outside his house. He had no criminal record. He was a neighbor but not a family member or friend of the family of the girl.

No criminal record, and apparently a highly intelligent guy (I’ve read that he graduated in the top 10% of his high school class and was on the robotics team, plus majored in math at USC). What am I missing? This crime seems to be the product of a very evil and stupid person. He may have been evil, but he’s apparently not stupid.

Clearly someone fighting some inner demons. It will never make sense. It’s unfortunate an innocent little girl suffered because of it.

Fall 2007 enrolled at USC Beaufort
Fall 2008 transferred to USC Columbia
Spring 2009 withdrew
Never Graduated from USC

Was manager at Jimmy Johns until 2015

Never underestimate the stupidity of a desperate person. They will do stupid things because of tunnel vision, no matter how smart they are.

Anyone that does such HAS TO BE MENTALLY OFF!!! But the ACTUAL MOM?!?! What she did was in-human!!
She was very much mentally off. I've read up on her and she seemed to be mentally unstable long before she took her sons lives. She was molested by her stepdad as a teenager, reported it, and admonished by her family for doing so. Failed marriage, and then a dear john letter from a guy who said he didn't want to help her raise her kids, and she actually thought killing her kids would get him back. Then she went to prison and got an STD from one of the guards that was screwing her. There were even rumors that she'd gotten pregnant while she was in prison. I can't find anything about it online but I'm sure a girl I know that was in prison with her told me she had been pregnant.

Here's her prison info. Looks like she's been a disciplinary problem all along. https://public.doc.state.sc.us/scdc-public/inmateDetails.do?id= 00221487

Praying for this family and that if they are still out there whatever wicked person did this is found

Hopefully we've learned some things:

1. You don't have to be "evil" or "stupid" to do something bad
2. Bad things can happen anywhere, doesn't matter if it's a big or small town
3. Bad things always happened, they are just reported more now

This act was not merely bad; it was evil. I still believe it takes an evil person to do an evil thing.

Stupid and intelligent people are certainly both capable of committing evil acts, but it seems obvious that intelligent people are more likely to get away with it.

Does that make it justifiable?
Just stating it wasn't just WLTX. Unfortunately, there are some out there that think it's part of the news. It's not the first 911 call to be released in this kind of situation.
I simply chose not to listen to it. Yet you did. It's disingenuous to call out news outlets for releasing the 911 tape, calling it disrespectful, while at the same time listening to the call.

This is baffling...

I've never heard a case like this where the child killer kills a child and themselves...

In some cases, a parent kills their own child and then themself afterwards... But not a stranger....

I heard and read that the police question this killer in the early days of the search for this child, but did not suspect him...

Hopefully, we will learn more tomorrow about the girls' death and how the killer killed himself...

He fits the profile to a t. Seemingly intelligent but underachieving (having never graduated college). As I previously stated, it's a lock that he was deeply into pornography.

It's possible this guy had same-sex desires and got into heterosexual porn as a way to combat those desires. His actions with this little girl were his ultimate act to try "purging" himself of those desires. That would be textbook.

Simpler but also textbook: he was a dude addicted to porn, couldn't get a woman and thus couldn't live out the sexual images with which he had fed his mind, so he took out his sexual frustrations on this little girl.

She's in heaven. He's in hell.

I did not know you were a psychiatrist.

I did not know you were a psychiatrist.

Well, that's understandable...given that you don't know me.

Cases like this invariably fit a pattern. It would be most unlikely that Taylor woke up that morning and decided, with no previous thought, to kidnap and kill Faye Swetlik.

What if he was killed by the girl’s killer while trying to protect her?

Had that thought initially, but it doesn't really add up with the timeline of events.

It's a safe bet that once Faye was kidnapped, nobody besides the killer saw her after that until her body was found. Given that police interviewed him in the time between her going missing and her body being found, the protector scenario doesn't add up.

I suppose you could get into some more exotic scenarios where there were 2 perpetrators involved, Coty started to have second thoughts and the other guy turned on him and killed him.

Usually, though, reality is the most obvious choice.

I had not heard that he was interviewed after she went missing. Must have been a much better liar than these yahoo live PD fools cause they know immediately they are lying.

On Live PD those morons haven't had time to make up their lies yet. The funniest thing you constantly hear on that show is that people didn't know the person in the car with them. They were just giving that person they don't know a ride.

But really, they had no reason to suspect him early on. He wasn't connected to the girl in any way except he lived close by. But from what I've heard, he was connected to the girl by something they found in his trash. I wonder if this was at the time they interviewed him or if they checked every trash can in the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure you don't need a warrant to look in the trash if it's on the street. Could be that he just gave off that weirdo vibe so they looked in his trash. Could be one of his neighbors gave them the idea.

Police questioned Taylor on Wednesday afternoon and he gave officers permission to search his home. At that time, they did not find any evidence.

However, the next morning officers were going through trash cans in the neighborhood when they found one of Faye’s rain boots she was wearing when she was last seen. It was in Taylor’s trash can.

They also found a soup ladle with freshly dug dirt, Cayce Department of Public Safety Director Byron Snellgrove said.
