Can anyone recommend a good sports bar in Columbia? I am an old (63) fart but still love to watch March Madness. I have a friend coming to town and I'd like to show Columbia off a bit but I don't get around as much as many of you do. So any recommendations?

I tend to stay away from the chain places, but I would say Carolina Ale House or Wild Wing Cafe (both on Lady St) would be your best bet. Some other places you could consider might be Hickory Tavern (Senate St in Vista), Gillians (Vista), or the California Dreaming bar area.

Carolina Ale House is a chain but it's sill a great place to watch a game.

Thirsty Fellow is also an awesome spot with fantastic food.

Salty Nut in 5 Points isn't a sports bar but they have plenty of TVs and will'll probably have what you want to watch on, and it's got a neat college vibe, with good food, cheap beer, and unlimited peanuts.

Says the guy who then recommends exclusively chain places, lol.

Im saying I dont like chains, BUT in this case those two chain places are probably the best for what he wanted. Its called a conjunction between two clauses.

Not sure about Dreamin' , but I agree with the rest. That Burger 77 place on devine is great if you like to belly up to a bar. Henry's is not bad for sports voyeurism either. Of course, this all depends on whether you live in the city.

I do like Hickory Tavern...our new basketball game pregame place.

Hickory Tavern.. everything else is a distant second
But that's in Laurens County.
New Hickory Tavern between WOB and Flying Saucer in the Vista. Wall to wall flat screens.
I got it Rod....not 100% he did.

Got it......US 76..... There can only be one Hickory Tavern, S.C............. just thought some people may not be familiar with the new bar that opened in the Vista.
