OT, ok the most overrated movie......GO!!!!!!

I've watched that 10 times and still trying to figure it out the beginning and the ending...
The classic chicken versus the egg scenario. The unseen dimension allows for every point in our existance to be both linked but independent. Sort of a predetermination model of existance. So we arent really linear, ie one point leads to another point and so on. Instead that chain of events is a set feature. So a point in the future can interact with one in the past and no problem occurs.
Now my head hurts.

Harry Potter movies...I could not get into them at all.
I think a majority of the people that got into the movies are the ones who have read the books first.

I personally read the first 6 books in a week during a Christmas holiday. The first two sucked but got better from book 3 on. (probably because she was slowly learning to write as she went along with the stories)

There is a massive amount of imagination at play and the only reason why I liked the movies is because I got to see how someone else imagined the story into a movie.

I can only imagine that adults that simply watched the movies instead of reading the books first were just 'meh' about the whole thing. There's some adult themes in the later books that didn't manifest very well in the movies. (Racism, death, media/gov, fear)

I read the first three books, and I did not care for them either.

I think someone must have worn a pumpkin on his head for too long......

i think some of yall are confusing "over rated" for " bad".... movies that received high praise but basically suck include

1) any Tom Hanks movie, ever... except maybe Cast Away
2) Rudy
3) Casino or Goodfellas

Titanic
Avatar
Any of the Transformers movies
Knocked Up
Something about Mary

Can I say the Star Wars Prequels? They are trash, but people seem to defend them.

The tinfoil kept scratching my head. Plus made me real nervous during a thunderstorm. My pumpkin is nice and soft, plus it acts as a shield from the government mind control satellite.;)

That's you? I always thought that was a picture of Dabo from his days at Alabama.

Goodfellas was awesome. I liked castaway and won’t see Rudy it just looks so cheesy. I read where the story is t true anyway.

I always found it interesting that a person like Forest who is considered (and I'm trying to be pc ) as " slow", becomes a student at Bama.
Did we ever actually see Forrest attend class, take an exam, etc? He ran like a freaking deer on Bear Bryant's football team. I'm pretty sure Alabama didn't demand too much of him academically.

Saving Private Ryan? You think that was overrated?

Good call. Sans Saving Private Ryan , which was awesome.
Also exclude are Band of Brothers and , to a degree , the Pacific

Come to think of it, my number one is wrong.

I’ll just go Star Wars Trilogy

Goodfellas is about 1 1/2 too long. Same with Casino.

Scorsase (sp) has a lot of really good movies, but they tend to drag on. Which is fine for most of them.

But those two are just not that good.

You should see "Being There" with Peter Sellers who played a simpleton. Everyone around him took his "simpleton" utterances as profound wisdom. One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I highly recommend.

I personally found Bull Durham to be dumb as hell. And I know one of the actors!

I did see it. Very funny, there's a message to take away from that movie

MCU movies are not all the same. Maybe you stopped watching superhero movies in the 80s.
No, I still sample one from time to time. They follow basically the same plot. I've already seen that so I go looking for something I haven't seen. But this is a thread about personal opinions so there you go.

Might I suggest "Big Jake"? The acting was just awful. Patrick Wayne couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag. The little kid wasn't bad. We was actually John Wayne's grandson. But I love to watch it and just laugh. But it isn't a comedy. "I thought you was dead. Not hardly.."
