Here is the handwriting that I saw earlier this fall. Did you see this handwriting while adding Texas and Oklahoma? The SEC can pluck Ohio State and some other powerhouses and create the next generation athletics association. Look at the money the NCAA gets from running the March Madness tournaments. If you split the money made on those tournaments between a 40-50 school megaconference instead of letting the NCAA keep it, it is an absolute no brainer. It is definitely coming! To make it interesting, we could "allow" the highest rated football and basketball teams to compete in OUR own playoffs. With that provision, there would never be any doubt about a national championship in either sport. Just like Cincy, they would collect a paycheck and go home but it would be good for "business". :)

The only really good thing about Cincy playing in that game was that it clearly showed what we all already now. They were a very good team but as usual, they simply didn't have the depth required to compete at that level. There is the age-old argument that somehow Cinderella deserves to go to the dance. However, put that Cincy team into any power-5 conference and they lose one or more games. AGAIN, they were a very good team. They did not perform well against some of their opponents as they should have. Hopefully, the playoff will hold off expansion as it simply isn't needed. When the SEC pulls out of the NCAA and brings other top teams along with it, there simply will be no need for it in the end. The money makes too much sense.
