I certainly understand why a 'Fair Catch Interference' penalty was not called on the first punt of the game. The opponent was clearly pushed into the receiver. HOWEVER, .... "upon further review" ... why wasn't an illegal "BLOCK in The Back" then called on the receiving team???

I THINK {???} I have the correct answer but would like to hear other opinions before stating mine.

I was wondering why that wasn't called as well. Left me thinking it was because the NCAA picked the biggest group of morons they could to call our game. I mean these guys would all come together for a group discussion and still get it wrong. Also strange was the number of times they got together to discuss a play and the amount of time they stayed huddled to do so. I got the vibe they didn't even trust themselves. Not saying they had anything to do with the way we played or the product we put on the field, just saying they looked like idiots right out the gate. This coming from a guy who rarely ever says anything bad about officials.

Is a block in the back a penalty that is reviewable in replay?

IDK but the fact they would have to look at it again kinda reinforces my theory. That's like saying they saw a player being blocked into another but didn't see the block. Morons

Oh I agree. Just saying that the "blocked into" can be reversed or reviewed. Once they see the block in the back on review, I do think think they can go back and call it if they didn't call it originally.

This is why I wanted to hear other opinions before stating mine (I certainly don't know what the 'review rules' are).

My thinking is that the "REVIEW" is ONLY for the 'INITIAL CALL' and any infractions (AND PERHAPS other issues, as well) found during the 'Review' are not appliable ... i.e. let's say they saw an off-sides or encroachment violation but, it wasn't called, so it is then, Not Part of Any Review. Now, what would have been interesting is ... what if one Ref called a Fair Catch Violation and another Ref called the Block in the Back. Would those be 'Off-Setting'??? I certainly hope not!!!

I am glad to see that others picked up on this and had the same question. LOL!!! I'll be honest ... I have a serious problem with non-called pass interference and sincerely believe that it has become a ridiculous situation, in favor of the Defense. Holding, on Virtually every single pass play .... And I'm sick of hearing the Talk'n' Heads run their mouths about ... "when the left arm wraps around ... it's going to be called every time" BS .... it's NEVER called!!!

I have to mute most games these days. The dei hires in the broadcast booth is extremely irritating. I can’t believe they can pack that much ignorance in one booth. I miss Bob Fulton.

I agree 100%. Bob Fulton called the ...'Play-By-Play" and you enjoyed starring at the radio.
The Talk'N' Heads are just over whelming and non-stop. Sure, they sometimes bring up something that you hadn't already heard a dozen times. But, that's for pre-game, half-time & post-game. It's simply over-kill.

Nothing loses me as a listener faster than having a broadcaster tell me what they would do differently if they were playing a certain position or what play they would or wouldn't be calling if they were the coach. That's almost as bad as listening to them telling me what they did or how things were done when they were playing. I recall a couple of years ago there was a guy who did a few of our baseball games... solo. Don't remember his name, but it stood out that he never talked that me me me BS (perhaps because he was talking into the mic instead of to a buddy sitting next to him). Anyway it was easy tell he did his homework. Instead of talking about his own experiences, he'd be talking about the players themselves... where they were from, what they are majoring in, who coached him in HS, what they were talking about yesterday... etc. And he did that kind of stuff every moment he could squeeze it in. It was refreshing to say the least. And because of that one guy, I have to give announcers a chance at the beginning of a broadcast. Almost never works out well tho. It really is a lost art form. Sad
