Recruiting

Oh we have figured it out and it's also why those teams aren't competing for championships, whether it be conference or CFP, just saying.
Iowa state?
Virginia?
Northwestern?

besides the SEC most years conference championships have at least one team that recruits majority 3 stars

There are some that will find fault with recruits regardless. As far as this WR, he must have made a huge impression on the staff to get the offer. I’m good with that. I will trust their judgement until it is proven I should not.

who said anything about playing for championships in the next 3-5 years? a rebuild is a process. i’m not worried like some of you guys about talent evals. i trust he knows what’s going on in that department. what noone wants to discuss is how the coaches are and will be performing come kickoff. that’s the biggest of all unknowns.
The elephant in the room you’re all ignoring is how much harder it is to coach up less talented players.

The problem being you have no history of how well Beamer judges talent.

So the question becomes which is more likely? Beamer has a better eye for talent than many established coaches or the players are of three star quality?
Well, I base it on the facts that he comes from a coaching background and has seen it done since childhood. He has worked here under Spurrier and knows the area and contacts well enough to get good information on talent. No one is a perfect judge of talent, even Spurrier made mistakes. I believe that Beamer knows talent and will be one of the better coaches at selecting and teaching good talented players. If you do not think so then please tell us why and please lay off the 3 star crap.

Well if we are being honest the chances of that happening in the next 10-15 years will be the same, just look at our track record. We are stuck in futility and I'm not sure what changes it especially with what is coming with NIL.

Again a rarity, how many times in the last 30 years for each of them? The blue bloods are the constant, you know it and everyone else does too. They don't load up with 3 stars, you also know that too.

well then you need to stop being a fan. jesus.
Why? I've been a fan my entire life so I'm use to it. My expectations are based on a pretty long track record with this program, doesn't make me not pull for them but I've also learned what to expect so I temper my expectations.

don’t you think your outlook comes off as extremely pessimistic, abrasive, and flat out depressing?

As opposed to what? What is abrasive about stating something based on reality? Does your outlook come off as extremely optimistic that isn't based on facts? I've learned over the years not to get crushed emotionally by this team because I always thought this was the "year".

Do you expect our team to compete for a championship this year or to recruit like one after the past two seasons? If so you are being completely unreasonable- this is a rebuild not a reload. It will take time and accomplishments on the field to improve our situation to the point where we can compete for the SEC East again.

its not all or nothing my man. i have high expectations, and reasonable hope for better football to come. but i’ll be damned if i sit in a corner and complain about other’s excitement for the new staff and players coming in, and also the potential for current players to become better with coaching. there’s only been a handful of years in our history that warranted “this is the year.” late 60’s, mid 80’s and early 10’s. that being said, we should all join hands and sing Kumbaya, you bring the guitar and sit in the middle with watson and his bongos.

You made it simple and I proved you wrong so now you are moving the goal posts?
Claiming victory on two teams that lost a combined 7-62 says more about your argument than anything.

Neither of those teams were deserving of being there.

Expecting them to complete for a championship? Nope

Recruit better than the current class? Yes. I have no idea why that's an unreasonable expectation. Muschamp took over a team that went 3-9 and lost to the Citadel and still finished with a 16th ranked recruiting class in his first season.

Clem5on got manhandled by OSU last year did they deserve to be there? Point being it can be done. Not in SEC, but it can be done and we have to start somewhere.

But he didn’t sign on 10 days before early signing period….

Quality troll, but I'm not going to say anything nice about your Tigers.

I’m pretty sure only 11 teams have ever made CFP appearances so that’s about 20% of the teams.

It seems if your only comparison in life is going to be wanting to do what the other 9 people do it’s going to be a rough time. .

Which is worse wanting to do what the 9 success teams do or hoping that doing the same thing the other 118 teams do will turn out with a different result?

2 out of 32 participants, great odds there!

Do you honestly believe Clemson was not one of the best 4 teams last year?

Not understanding what led to those 9 teams being different is what’s worse.

Based on the game with OSU I would say OU should have been #4
Whatever, we will never know but you could not have left them out after their season. What sucks is they figured out what we haven't and they are kicking our ass in recruiting and it isn't even close.

How many CFP teams made their appearances after being historically a .500 team coming off back to back losing seasons with a new head coach?
No one expects us to be in the CFP any time soon so this is just a lame strawman argument.

But we're never going to get there if this is what good recruiting looks like for this staff.

And Beamer took over a 2 win team in the midst of a pandemic, could not even bring kids on campus until a few weeks ago and has gotten EIGHT commitments in the past week alone. The situations are not even comparable on any level and if recruiting improvement is what you want, after the week we are having, why are you still whining and bitching in every recruiting thread? If that is what your morive truly was, you should be celebrating recent success not condemning the quality of kids committing to us when you know nothing about them. ALL you ever do is trash our team, players and coaches. That is not beneficial to the recruiting efforts in any way.
