Nope....not even close. If Notre Dame were also coming, the money difference would flatten.

8Widely part of south yes, but NOT Southeast
TV contracts can and do change within the term limits quite frequently, so that in and of itself would not be a deterrent.
So just for arguments sake, IF PSU and ND joined the ACC, I'm sure the ACC would have ESPN come back to the table for talks. They would have the added benefit of the NBC-ND contract as a negotiating tool.
With all this said, it's all speculation.
But they would lose all that research money that the B1G academic consortium allocates. All the athletic money can't touch that.TV contracts can and do change within the term limits quite frequently, so that in and of itself would not be a deterrent.

Do y’all think there is any validity to the super conference claim. Bringing in Clemson Florida state and others as well for one big conference? I know it’s catching some traction.
When you're dealing with something that is essentially nothing of cosmic importance anyway, the more money that comes out of it, the better it is for the principals. People like you and me don't matter. Some things are more valuable than money. What's the point of more money if things are worse?
You are limiting it to athletic department money....I am looking at it from the University perspective and the approximate $10B in academic research money that the BTAA controls. Either conference with respect to athletic department money will be a big winner by adding Texas.I hope we get to test my theory.
I believe so to.P5 football is eventually going to break away from conferences entirely
P5 football is eventually going to break away from conferences entirely
Because "conferences" have zero effect on that aspect of it. Each Universities athletic program does regardless of which conference a particular sport is played in.I was curious, if most other sports are such a drain on the athletic department, why not separate football now, and form small local conferences for all other sports.

Universities won't and can't allow that....they would lose their federal funding, even the scholarship for their students.Because every other sport aside from football and men’s basketball (not basketball) would shut down. Wouldn’t look good. Although, I did read an article discussing this very inevitably. Everyone is out of control money hungry. It’s not too much longer before football programs decide they don’t wanna foot the bill for the water polo team and instead keep the money for themselves.
It won’t matter once the football programs break away from the schoolsUniversities won't and can't allow that....they would lose their federal funding, even the scholarship for their students.
And build their own stadiums. And draft players instead of recruiting. And get new fans that aren't college football fans. Oh wait, isn't there already such a thing? It won’t matter once the football programs break away from the schools
Well thats an entirely different scenario....then their will be no scholarships for the players, nor housing and I would guess the schools would rent the stadium facilities to the independent football team.It won’t matter once the football programs break away from the schools

Universities already do that.Maybe I didn't explain it well. I wasn't talking of the football teams leaving the athletic department. They would still support the program.
I'm saying football can group into super conferences, run the way want, etc.
The same money that football generates to support the entire athletic department will still be there. You just don't need the ladies golf team travelling to texas or Missouri for games. They can play in a conference that is more regional, driving costs down.
Edit: ND gave me the idea. Play football with one schedule, every other sport is in a conference that can be more local.
They've taken steps since then. But, no, I don't think they want to go to the Big 10, either.Well according to this picture, Texas does not want to go to the Big Ten (Maryland beat Texas in 2017 and 2018).
Universities already do that.
Ex: UK has a men's soccer team. Soccer is not an SEC sport. UK's Mens Soccer team competes in the CUSA soccer league.
Same with UK's Rifle Team.
