As the father of a daughter, I don't like it. She was given the job. She didn't earn the job, and that’s not a good message for anyone.
I'd be all for it if she was actually the best kicker they had available, but she's clearly not. Why else would they bring a guy on to kick a 39-yard field goal instead of letting her take a shot?
There’s a long history of football coaches choosing soccer players with big legs to kick for them When needed. Were you concerned about those previous soccer players not earning the job? Or is this a new outrage for you?
We are not bashing women or at least I'm not. As a son of a single mom I can tell you I am for woman's rights. But, it's just kind of funny as to lengths Vandy is going through to make history in the P5.
Now make no mistake Fuller was not the first female to kick an extra point in college football. That honor belongs to Liz Heaston who kicked two extra points in 1997.

Good grief. It’s a meaningless game at the end of a pandemic year. What was Vanderbilt supposed to do. Kick the girl off the team once they got all their male kickers back, She was willing to help in a tough spot and she was rewarded for that. One group does not lose just because another group gets a little something.
Happy for Sarah Fuller. This is very cool time in history we are witnessing.

Actually I don’t know it but I do know it really causes unnecessary consternation for some men.
Fire off some names from that long history off the top of your head please? She cannot kick anything close to a CFB kicker. There's a difference in anyone that you name (if you can find anyone on Google) and her. She's slow and she doesn't have a decent range. Vandy players were pissed because they weren't given a chance and they knew it was a bush league publicity stunt.
Are you going to be okay if she gets knocked on her butt and gets hurt on a kickoff?
I'm not outraged. I see it for what it is... and for what it is not.

Don't need to kick her off the team. She should be benched if there's a better player available at her position, though.

So, you’re that guy that wouldn’t let the blind kid at Southern Cal get a carry because they had other runners that were better. Get real. I think Sarah Fuller would tell you that she has a long way to go to be a bonafide kicker. However, it’s a step and why not when you are 0-9 with absolutely nothing to play for.
Well that doesn't sound like such a long history does it? You made my point. I'm also betting that the guy could actually kick fgs and kickoffs. Vandy had players wanting to try but they were told it wasn't open for a tryout.

That's the point, other players wanted to try but were told they couldn't even try.
And even if she does become a bonafide kicker, are you going to have a player run to the sidelines who could potentially make a touchdown saving tackle, etc?
Kickers get absolutely slaughtered sometimes and it isn't fair to put her in that position, nor the opposing team.
I do....simply because my oldest who I taught to throw a baseball and took to the batting cages from the time she was 5 could hit and throw better than most of the boys in her age group, yet wasn't allowed to play because she was a girl. She ended playing lacrosse, getting a scholarship, and graduating from Davidson. But having to sit and tell her why she couldn't play baseball at 9-years old when she knew she was better was tough. I am happy when any stupid glass ceiling gets crashed.
Because you have other players who have busted their butts all year (some longer) that wanted the opportunity to at least try out for the job and were told no.
Who are the other Vandy kickers who busted their butts and were told no?
