Sarah Fuller just kicked the extra point. 7-7 vandy/UT

Well that doesn't sound like such a long history does it? You made my point. I'm also betting that the guy could actually kick fgs and kickoffs. Vandy had players wanting to try but they were told it wasn't open for a tryout.
Now, are you okay with her getting blocked/drilled on a kickoff?
I didn’t maybe your point at all. 😂 I simply refused to do your research for you. That would be a good exercise for you to help enhance your skills.

So, you’re that guy that wouldn’t let the blind kid at Southern Cal get a carry because they had other runners that were better. Get real. I think Sarah Fuller would tell you that she has a long way to go to be a bonafide kicker. However, it’s a step and why not when you are 0-9 with absolutely nothing to play for.

The blind kid at Southern Cal didn't get a carry. He's a long snapper who got to snap an extra point in a real game. It's telling that you compare Fuller to a blind kid, though. Both are basically charity cases. Neither would have ever seen the field if they had to earn it. That's not much of an accomplishment.

And even if she does become a bonafide kicker, are you going to have a player run to the sidelines who could potentially make a touchdown saving tackle, etc?

Kickers get absolutely slaughtered sometimes and it isn't fair to put her in that position, nor the opposing team.
Who are we to say who it is fair to. Sarah Fuller is out there. If she is willing to take risk, then she should get no breaks from the other team. The girl was willing to help because the women’s soccer team were the only people on campus when Vanderbilt’s kickers got Covid. For people to be going after her because she got a couple opportunities is ridiculous to me.

I do....simply because my oldest who I taught to throw a baseball and took to the batting cages from the time she was 5 could hit and throw better than most of the boys in her age group, yet wasn't allowed to play because she was a girl. She ended playing lacrosse, getting a scholarship, and graduating from Davidson. But having to sit and tell her why she couldn't play baseball at 9-years old when she knew she was better was tough. I am happy when any stupid glass ceiling gets crashed.
I coached baseball with my son starting in a 3/4 year old league (metro ATL). I had a girl who was awesome. Savannah was with me for 4 years when she decided to go to softball. The difference between Savannah and your daughter and the Vandy girl is that Savannah and your daughter were as good as the competition. I'm surprised your league wouldn't allow girls to play.
There's also a big difference in a physical contact sport and a non-contact sport such as baseball, especially at the college level.
Congrats on your daughter's successes. You sound proud and you should be.

Who are the other Vandy kickers who busted their butts and were told no?
I didn't say kickers, I said players. Maybe they kicked in high school. I think the punter probably did.
Vandy players were pissed and some left the team after the stunt... then Vandy canceled on us last week.

Didn't know the COVID backstory, but also wasn't going after her in the least.

Didn’t we have 2 kickers at one time doing that?
Yup, lots of teams have. I thought we were going to need a student audition for kicker in 2017 before Parker White emerged.

Remember Florida had to go to a dental student to be a kicker not that long ago. Folks weren’t outraged about it though for some reason claiming he didn’t earn it or was a stunt. Can’t place my finger on why.

Her teammates seemed genuinely happy for her. Just a cool moment. Not the end of the world. Everyone can still feel secure.

Only at Vandy. I’m glad she made it. Gives the news people something else to goggle about. She will probably get a vote or two for the Heisman.

Yikes. So you use an example that does the opposite of proving the point you think it does. The Florida kid kicked in high school, made a high school all star game, and hit 48 and 43 yard fg's in games. He also won the job against over 200 people trying out.

You compared that to someone who didn't have to tryout, she got a phone call and was like yeah I will come kick. Never kicked anywhere ect. It was a publicity stunt, anyone with half a brain knows this.

The guy that you guys are claiming must be the "long yardage" fg is 9-9 on pat's this season.

It doesn't bother me either way, I just feel like the whole thing is patronizing as **** "special teams player of the week" last week, this week she gets to kick extra points and not the short fg, but if it doesn't bother her, it doesn't bother me.

Glad it doesn’t bother you.🧐

As a father of 3 sons, I think it's great. Sorry you folks can't be happy for her.

I'm happy for her I guess but why should I be? Please as I said earlier, there is probably no one on this board that is more of a women's right advocate than me.

But, that does not deserve notoriety. First of all she was not the first girl to kick an extra point in college football, Liz Heaton was the first female to kick an extra point, in fact she kicked two extra points in 1997. An extra point is an extra point.

Is that the girl from New Mexico?

I guess this is where I am on it. It’s already been done. Why is she being celebrated as breaking some kind of glass ceiling?

Fortunately, you are not the notoriety police.

Some folks just see this as a little pat on the head of women. I’d respect it if this weren’t a publicity stunt.

I would respect it more if Liz Heaston was recognized as the first female who kicked an extra point in 1997 for Willamette University, in fact she kicked two extra points that year. Yes, Willamette was a Division III University but kicking an extra point is the same regardless of the size of the university.
