Speaking of forced and contrived...can you believe Byron the Bunny is still has an active Twitter account?Originally posted by uscbeckham:

Cutting up and staying loose is fine when it is natural and you are winning. BUT, when it is forced and contrived, and the team is losing, it is a problem.
None of them played against Florida in Omaha.Originally posted by 1987cgamecock:
Probably florida thinking they are all that and one of our players in the dugout just waved the national title banner at them from when we beat them in omaha, bwwaaaaaa.
F, tailgating and weather. If that is what mattered they as well not play the game.Originally posted by coq-au-vandy:
When they win, it's branded "staying loose" and is attributed to sticks, bunnies and fish. When they lose, it's called smiling and laughing like they don't care.
If you think these college guys really give a damn or lose any sleep over whether they win or lose are fooling yourself. Their attitude doesn't change from game to game or from win to loss. They are probably out drinking and partying after after either before you can make your first GC post asking what's wrong with the team.
For the great majority, winning or losing in college doesn't impact their life at all. They don't care at all if your life is negatively impacted by a losing season and embarrassing team and personal performances. Different generation. Different perspective on life and sports and team and competition and accountability. And attitudes have changed a lot since 2010. It's all changing really fast. Morales and Wingo have both passed through here as coaches, and even they can't change the emotion or the want-to with these guys.
There's only so much a coach can do. A lot of it is just based on dumb-luck team chemistry and maybe finding one or two real leaders. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. As the HBC says, paraphrasing, "we'll just see how it goes". Look at how wildly inconsistent and generally mediocre big-time college sports teams are in general today. Get used to more of this.
Just enjoy the weather and the tailgating and stop worrying why 20 somethings don't care about winning and don't suffer about losing as much as a fan does.
I guarantee you that the USC women's team care about winning. That's a team that's worth spending money to see. Any team that doesn't care about winning isn't worth following.Originally posted by coq-au-vandy:
