I say if we see something like last night on Saturday and the bowl game and you have to hang with him! It just might have taken that long for the guys to get it or he streamlined his scheme to make it more playable!one things for sure, that was a helluva gameplan!

I could buy into keeping him around if we are putting up great numbers against Clemson. I really could care less what happens in a bowl. Depending on who we play, half of their team could opt out. I would put more stock into what we’re doing against Clemson than anything that happens in a bowl game.

The only way he sticks around is if he understands the game plans of Vanderbilt and Tennessee become the norm and not the exception.

There was a clear stubbornness to change early in the season that cost us some games.

I stated already in another thread there is no way I would keep him unless he produces very comparable results against the inbreeds. Even then I would be hesitant because then you’re stuck with him for a whole season next year. I generally agree it’s not best to fire someone during a season if at all possible. I also agree it’s hard to measure the bowl performance because there will likely be many opt outs in a meaningless low tier bowl.

Sorry..... No dice. Would you keep a player who has played 25 games and not crapped the bed in only a handful? No, you wouldnt. Our offense has looked awful in most games to the point of ineptitude. Now on the other hand, the line played much better last night than they have thus far so is it the play caller or the o line coach? Some very hard decisions need to be made this off season. Beamer is going to have to put personal relationships aside and look at the facts. Neither Satterfield or the o lone coach better buy a house and put down roots just yet in my opinion.

My feelings are about what they have been.

I think he deserves to keep doing the job. I think we need to try to stick with someone for awhile and give them a chance to implement a system, recruit to that system, and then learn from the mistakes they make.

Satterfield's press conferences have indicated to me that he is willing to admit mistakes and is also willing to try different things. I've been impressed with his comments and the fact he doesn't just fall back into the coach-speak about "knowing our players better than anyone else" type junk most coaches repeat in front of the media.

Coaches are human beings and they make mistakes too - and I think we need to stay the course and allow time for that coach to learn from their mistakes. (I'm also sort of tired of the team the coach goes to after us benefitting from the learning they did for the mistakes they had here. It's time we benefit from that and give someone time).

The play calling last night was fantastic - and showed that he can call a game with the best of them. I loved the fact that we ran some of the same plays a number of times - because it was working. So many coaches won't do that- they will get away from it.

I like the fact he's sees to have learned from some of the issues earlier in the year.

Now, Clemson is up next and their defense is MUCH BETTER than Tennessee's so those same play calls might not work this week. Regardless, the players seem to really like him and I think that counts for a lot. I'd like to see him stay and keep building on what he has learned with our talent.

My feelings are.; Why are we just now in game #11 seeing this type of creativity in our offense? Why are we pulling out all these schemes and plays when we have no other alternatives? such as Lloyd and BCS. It just seems we don't work hard or even try to be creative until we have no other means of offense. Also, why is it we only give DJ opportunities when all else seems too fail? This is just my opinion, but I think our offensive game plans have been lazy to say the least with exception to last night. Plan like your in desperation mode every week why don't we!!

Totally depends on the next two. Regardless of the W/L, a good showing at Clemson and in the bowl game would make the UT game look less like an aberration and more like the future. Otherwise, we were just very opportunistic against one of the worst defenses in the country.

Just a theory……Coach Satterfield wants to run a Pro Style Offense because he knows a well run Pro-Style will defeat most college defenses. And he knows Rattler came to SC to learn a Pro-Style.
With that in mind, what we saw last night was a Spurrier style take advantage of the weakness and tendencies of the defense.
Rattler is staring down the receivers. It doesn’t appear he is going thru route progression. With his quick release and accuracy if he could go thru progressions in a Pro Style offense then he would be the next great NFL QB.
Maybe Satterfield went old school and changed to keep his job. Maybe?

If he repeats this performance vs Clemson and the bowl, even if we lose the Clemson game bc honestly they do have more talent right now, then its fair to say he deserves another year. That would show progress

One thing I noticed last night, he and beamer didn't speak any and I never saw any eye contact, maybe he wasn't calling the plays and his fate has been sealed!

He's still got to go. UT was a tremendous showing - but one out of 11 games is not a great percentage. Everyone overreacts when it relates to sports. His body of work shows that he needs to go - one or two games doesn't change that.

The game yesterday was not his style of offense. He did a great job switching things up and it caught UT off guard. But it's clear that when teams have a chance to prepare for his offense - his offense fails.

Ding ding. Lil birdies are talking. It made perfect sense to me too because it was a completely different team and play calling.

One good game a year would not be enough for me. I just don't get it. Consistency is the key. If we don't score v. Clemson, good feelings may go away.

Man, it’s hard calling for anybody’s job after that performance. Trust me I feel the frustration. Heck, for awhile it was hard to not get mad last night given our performance in previous games. I came around though, and really enjoyed seeing the boys put on a helluva show. Consistency in last night’s effort is what we all want. At least we know we have the talent and ability to compete! Many of us didn’t think we had the talent. I see things differently now tho. The O Line gave Spencer plenty of time to make reads/decisions. His throws were laser tight! Only God knows where we would be had we made these adjustments earlier in the season!

No team anywhere is going to consistently perform like what we saw last night. Especially in the SEC. Just unreasonable. This ain't a video game.

What you saw was a phenomenal job by Satterfield and the offensive staff. To pull off that kind of performance against a top 5 team without your top 2 running back was amazing.

It wasn't about "adjustments". The team finally executed. Teams develop and grow during the season. Most teams do the same as the season progresses. You can't just say "the team played well last night so they should have been able to do that all season". That's not how it works.

I'm pulling for the team. I will wait until after the season completes to look at Satterfield's performance over the course of the ENTIRE season, not one game or two, to say how I "feel" about him.

He looked like he was just standing there watching the game to me

I don’t think he was calling the plays….

His fate is sealed

I'm not going to overreact to one game against one of the 130th (2nd worst in the nation) pass defenses in college football and one of the worst overall defenses. Im going to look more at his body of work, which has been less than impressive. Of course a good outing next week could help change my opinion.

I know what Beamer said. Watching the game, each time they showed Satterfield between plays with the offense on the field, he was not talking and had his arms crossed multiple times, including a short time after the offense scored its 63rd point. Never was he looking at his call sheet and talking into the headset. BUT the camera was not on him the entire game. Beamer said Satterfield called the plays. So, I take Beamer at his word. No reason not to.

Beamer did good making a change, but bad dealing with it and explaining it. Needs to stay in front of the issue because we the people aren’t stupid and people talk.

I think you are seeing what you want to see.

Gamecock football: Satterfield was play caller against Vols (on3.com)

"A rewatch of the contest by GamecockCentral.com indeed showed Satterfield on multiple occasions consulting his play sheet and calling out plays either from the sideline or in the huddle during a timeout."

Embarrassing that Beamer has to deal with such stupid rumors.

I had not looked that up. Were they really the second worst backfield in the nation?

Doesn't diminish the game, but makes me question the repeatability of the success.

You"think"? That's where you went wrong. NO, I stated what I SAW. I did not interpret what I saw. And again, I stated that the camera was not on him the entire game. But I guess that part went over one's head.
