How many freshman QBs have come right into Spurrier's system, learned it, and been successful? Hell, we have QBs that have a few years to learn his system and still can't figure it out.

Defensive coordinators have it figured out though. I'm pretty sure it was one of the tater defensive players that said they knew exact what we were going to run by the personnel and formations.
Agree every year it's the same thing. Some freshmen is going to come in and set the world on Fire. Not going to happen.
Connor Shaw, maybe the most successful Gamecock QB ever, didn't even learn Spurriers system. The plays broke down and Connor used his feet. #nosystemneeded

If we don't have big time talent we need improvision or a hard to defend system. I know everyone hates Uban Meyer and Chad Morris but it's simple in their system for the QBs. Its a one or 2 read and gone system.

I love Spurrier, but lets face it, he doesn't develope NFL QBs.

Might need to worry about "just winning" and put a playbook together for Cooper and let him do his thing.
BS Shaw didn't learn Spurrier's system. The play didn't always break down. If all Shaw's options where covered he would used his mobility to make plays. He was so good at it, eventually that was incorporated into the system.

Disagree. Shaw's first down conversions from 3d and a Mile are legendary, and most certainly wasn't integrated into the plan. They were often due to plays breaking down. Yes, there were some designed runs, but Shaw did for South Carolina what Tyrod Taylor did for Virginia Tech - use his feet and elusiveness to make his offense appear to ba a LOT better than it actually was. That is why when comparing the total offenses and total defenses of both teams, you will find that there are probably two team no more alike in philosophy than SC and VT, even though your head coach is known for offense.

I guess it's just me, but I'd be more worried if he were satisfied.

A lot of hooplah over a post-scrimmage comment in the spring???
I agree with this. People really seem to run with any kind of negative comment around here. If you listen to his comments he said that the offense played better the day before and the defense played poorly. It's spring practice with new players and things are up and down right now. The offense had a bad day and Spurrier was getting on their case. I'd rather us identify problems and push our guys hard before the season begins. We know what happened last year when we heard that our defense was supposed to be just as good as previous years.
