Holbrook is not a game manager. Monte Lee should have been hired and Holbrook retained as assistant head coach and hitting coach. Holbrook is probably the best assistant coach in the game, he is just not a head coach.
We are like the Bama of baseball. If Saban was underachieving year in and year out with the recruits he gets like we get in baseball and with the facilities they have then people would be questioning his head coaching ability as well.Originally posted by sclawman77:
He's a great assistant and recruiter. Still learning how to coach at least according to his supporters on the board. Either way, jury's still out on his managing ability. Hopefully we get out of a regional this year or make it to a regional.

We are not like the Bama of baseball. LSU is closer to that title in our own conference. Texas maybe, So Cal maybe. Look where those programs are at right now. No one stays on top forever.Originally posted by TrailerParkBoy:

True. But it's disappointing that we have not taken full advantage of the success we've had in baseball and football. It is starting to look like we've peaked, resting on our laurels and heading back to the bottom. Ok, I've had my pity party. Go Cocks!!!!!!!!!Originally posted by Judson1:

No congrats today from the negative nellies today ? TypicalOriginally posted by USCAndy:
Pretty sad state of affairs when we're just hoping we make a regional. Its all Omaha for me. It's year three of the Holbrook era. If he hasn't figured it out by now, he probably won't. Again, he took over a program that was in great shape, unlike when Tanner was hired. Slowly, but surely, it's slipping. Not good!

Come on pepsi, you know who you're responding to. And you know if we don't win a NC every year we need to fire the entire staff.Originally posted by pepsicock:

So after the very first baseball game this season you are already calling out our coach, lol. Some of our so called "fans" are really strange. I doubt anyone on this board has a history of posting more knee jerk crap than this guy does. This is not a knee jerk post....and I know theres a lot of season left but.[/URL]

I don't know you CONNGAMECOCK, But I 'love you man'. Great Post.Originally posted by CONNGAMECOCK:
As a person that sat through all 27 innings this weekend with my 10 year old son, folks that are jumping on this team so early are just looking for things to knit pick. We have some tremendous talent on this team and Holbrook is doing a great job. We saw 3 freshman pitchers (Haswell, Schmidt and Murray) and 3 freshmen fielders (Stokes, Destino and Taylor) get put in major roles against a team that went to the Super Regionals. Holbrook has to see how everything is going to shake out before he can decide on a lineup. I think we saw Holbrook is not afraid to shake things up. We saw 3 left fielders (Harrington, Caldwell and Gore). We saw the future at 3B, Madison Stokes. We saw why Koch is catching, Taylor struggled a little bit blocking balls and catching cleanly. My point is, there is still a lot to learn about this team. I know one thing, we have a lot more options in the bullpen. Last year, Mincey was over used and he wasn't even used in this 1st series. We have come a long way in the bullpen, since we were using 2 pitchers exclusively (i.e. Westmoreland/Webb or Mincey/Seddon). I really like Brandon Murray, Vince Fiori will play a prominent role this year. I think you will see more of Reed Scott, Canaan Cropper, Matthew Vogel and Clarke Schmidt) So, stop being a bunch of woe is me fans. We have talent. Go to the games and cheer your team on and trust your coaches! The best coaches in America do not know how some of these kids are going to perform until they start playing games.
