I generally don't watch the news. The articles are from The Washington Post and The Daily Caller.

FTR...The polio vaccine trials only lasted one year before it gained approval. And those trials were done on children.

Work on the vaccine began in 1935. Not sure which iteration it was, but the Salk vaccine started testing in 1952. In 1954 they went to more widespread testing that concluded in 1955.

It sounds like the final stage was one year. But not the entire trials.
