I kept thinking that this team would come around. Now, I am totally convinced that our
baseball team is very poorly coached. There are good players on this roster, but Coach
Holbrook is out of his league. He may be an exceptional recruiter and an excellent assistant,
but his head coaching ability leaves too much to be desired.

Ray Tanner's loyalty toward Chad must take a back seat to what is best for Carolina, and
he should be looking right now for a replacement to come in at the end of the season, an
end that will probably see Carolina missing the regional playoffs.

This once proud and respected program is being embarrassed. The only thing that is keeping
more outrage from being heaped on Holbrook is the fact that Leggett seems to be doing an even
worse job. They both should be contemplating a career change come June.

I remember Ray commenting in an interview at the end of football season, when asked if he was prepared for Coach Spurrier's eventual retirement, if he was prepared for the task of replacing him. This was not directly related to the 2 or 3 year comment regarding SOS future, but just part of a general discussion of his job as AD. Ray responded that he keeps a short list of potential candidates for every head coach in each sport on active file, never knowing when he might have to hire a replacement.

None of us know what Ray may be thinking regarding the baseball program this morning, but I'm guessing that short list has been pulled out of the file for quicker reference. If this season continues trending in the current direction, I'd expect a few exploratory phone calls may occur, with nothing offered until season's end.

Baseball America ranked our 2014 class #3 in the country. There is no lack of talent on this team. I've been a consistent defender of Coach Holbrook but I'm afraid the current deficiencies can only be attributed to coaching. All of our athletic programs should have a minimal expectation of representing the university in a positive and competitive manner, as our women's basketball team has done so well. The baseball team is not doing that right now, and I'm sure Ray is keenly aware of that. Barring a miracle reversal of fortunes for our baseball team, I think we'll see a new coach announced by July.

It is amazing to look at our baseball team now vs what we had right before Holbrook took over 3 years ago.

This team doesn't appear to have any character. No leader. They look like a team that expects to lose. I'm in shock with what has happened.
