Was winning 5 years in a row worth

The current torture that is currently happening?

Not sure it mattered. If we don’t beat Clemson 5 years in a row, they may have had even more success earlier. Us giving them an L kept them from busting on the scene a little earlier. But they were headed there.

It is miserable right now. Can’t imagine another fan base suffering like we are. Auburn won a title in the past 10 years and can contend for one every few years. They actually beat Alabama 2 seasons ago. They aren’t suffering like we are.

I agree Auburn may be the only fan base to suffer more than us.

- disagree there. We beat different teams back then. Bobble Head Boyd tossing meatballs is way different than the kid that looks like Payton Manning with balls and wheels.

Headed there doesn’t mean they were there. They did win a BCS bowl. If we don’t beat them, they likely play in more than one.

It's an interesting question. Getting their a**es kicked by us 5 years in a row certainly motivated Dabo. No doubt about that. Not sure how anyone could question that. Would Clemson have morphed into the program they are now without those beat downs? It's purely theoretical, but my guess is "no." I think they'd still be quite good, but those 5 losses are what really lit a fire under Dabo to improved the program at every single level. He simply got sick of seeing his pretty good teams with incredibly athletic players get outclassed on the field by the in-state rival 5 years running. It's a classic example of using defeat to motivate yourself and become better. We, on the other hand, are a classic example of success making you complacent.

It's a great lesson for any coach to use with younger kids in sports.

Fact is, we had the chance to turn the tide on this rivalry and we blew it. We seem to be the world's best at not capitalizing on momentum in sports.

FrankieGoestoDollywood is a creative stage 5 troll.

He's authored several long threads along these lines...Clearly his porn.

Likely still riding fumes from the idiot savant 10yr/93mil signing.

It caused Daba daba doo to start cheating harder and winning at all costs. History has a tendency of repeating itself....just look back at the 80s for reference.

Most AD's would've fired the coach after fans message board outrage. Most Clemson fans I know wanted Dabo fired. To DR's credit, he didn't make a rash move.
