So you're comparing patriotism to the actual human life of your mother. HmmmmYou may be “aware” of it, but you’re obviously too young and naive to understand or appreciate much of it. “Just a song that WE people put too much stock into” lol. That’s like saying your mother is “just a female that you respect for some reason.”
I think it’s you that doesn’t see how that’s a problem. I don’t want the leadership of the country dictated by isolated pockets of heavy population, and I don’t want the direction and character of the country dictated by young people who haven’t lived long enough to have their moment of clarity yet. And until we adults die off, that’s the way it will be. Then you can be the third world country you so desperately think you want to be, unless there is a much needed awakening.
No.So you're comparing patriotism to the actual human life of your mother. Hmmmm
I wonder if they will put something, on the unis, in support of the 280+ Law Enforcement officers shot and 40+ law enforcement officers killed in 2020 alone????
I keep wondering if this will ever dawn on individuals like that; doesn’t look like that will happen. It would be nice to see the black community take a more participatory, constructive role in race relations. It must be a sad existence to see skin color in every interaction and to look for reaons to be offended every second of every day.
Ever think that maybe people like you are the real reason society cant seem to get over this race debate? When i see another person. I see a unique individual defined by his character. Too bad you only see pigment tone.
but you did say that calling the NA just a song is like calling your mother just a woman you respected. That is a comparison of the two. Patriotism is just something I've never fully grasped. I've seen guys who would rather see you kick your mother down a flight of stairs than see you do anything disrespectful to the flag. What does it say about us as human beings when we care more about a piece of cloth than we do about actual human lives? I will never trade my humanity for patriotism.No.
Hmmm indeed.
I keep wondering if this will ever dawn on individuals like that; doesn’t look like that will happen. It would be nice to see the black community take a more participatory, constructive role in race relations.
You ever heard of Hyperbole?? WOW....No one spit on anything.
You are SO OVERBOARD!! Patriotism is (Even if you think it is BAD) is not a BAD thing. It does not make you a racist, I too am for America First!!but you did say that calling the NA just a song is like calling your mother just a woman you respected. That is a comparison of the two. I don't think patriotism is bad. I just think expecting everyone to have the same reverence for it as you is too much. The greatest thing about America is that we each have a right to our own opinions and beliefs. Getting worked up when someone doesn't share the same beliefs as you is asinine and unhealthy. You are SO OVERBOARD!! Patriotism is (Even if you think it is BAD) is not a BAD thing. Exaggeration is never an effective argument.but you did say that calling the NA just a song is like calling your mother just a woman you respected. That is a comparison of the two. Wow man. That is some shite you just posted. I am surprised you didnt start it off with "I'm not racist but..." It has been tried. But like ad said they are told to "get over it." Or "you dont know what your talking about boy." So the next logical step is peaceful protest but then here you guys are deriding that. Telling them "oh maybe they think they would be better off in Africa." Do you guys hear what you are saying or is the racism so deeply ingrained that you think it's ok and normal.[/QUOTE]I keep wondering if this will ever dawn on individuals like that; doesn’t look like that will happen. The great thing about our country is they can choose to stand for the national anthem or not stand and our Constitution and young men/women in the military give them this right. In my opinion, not standing is disrespectful of those who give them this right, so every one of these players and Dawn can move the hell on from our school and I could care less. I would feel the same if it was the football team.
Lol. I don’t know you but I’m guessing you weren’t around back then, because that’s a ginormous load of hooey. When Jimi Hendrix did this at Woodstock he was crucified by many Americans for desecrating the National Anthem . In this version he clearly wanted to encompass all the chaos going on at the time . Young men dying in Vietnam , race riots and civil unrest in America , etc etc . If you listen clearly hear the bombs and people screaming for help . He was absolutely crucified at the time . This Black, (not the word he was called at the time) Drug using , , anti war Hippy is destroying our National Anthem , it’s a disgrace . He played the anthem at shows for years and got the same backlash but the Woodstock performance would introduce it to millions and millions of people . He knew it was gonna be a bomb going off and he did it anyway . He received death threats , people burned his records and called him every name under the sun . Now almost 50 years later it’s considered a Masterpiece and probably the most famous version of the National Anthem ever . A black Hippy from Seattle protesting the Vietnam war and Racism and inequality in America with his version of the National Anthem . However at the time it was a desecration... just something to think about on both sides .
It's not an exaggeration. I had a conversation with an ex-marine who stated he would kill someone over them burning the flag.Exaggeration is never an effective argument.
Exactly my point, einstein. If enuf people say FU to this then it will stop.
Lol. I don’t know you but I’m guessing you weren’t around back then, because that’s a ginormous load of hooey.

I’m not talking about being a fanboy son; I’m talking about actually being around at that time. Btw, I’ve been a working musician off and on for 50 years; my band was making $1000 a night at that time, big money in 1970. A couple of us actually planned on going to Woodstock but I got the Hong Kong flu, true story. At any rate, Lennon saying the Beatles were more popular than Jesus back then generated WAAAAY greater backlash than Hendrix at Woodstock.Bro I’ve been a working musician for 20 years , I’ve been all over the country and world and I’ve idolized Jimi since I was 9 years old and read every biography and every article ever written about him from the time he was an paratrooper In Kentucky until modern day . If you really want to die on this hill come at me . i promise you will lose . What was Jimi’s first gig ?? Who discovered him ?? Who did he get his first Strat?? What was his girlfriends name when he first discovered Bob Dylan ?? Name all the members of the band on the stage that day at Woodstock because it wasn’t just Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding ( it was Billy Cox) . Oh btw just in case .... watch this 2 minutes in specifically. You can put debate me on many things my friend but you’re in over your head on anything regarding James Marshall Hendrix
So in other words ignore the people that have been personally effected by it. Your words resemble those who defended Jim Crow era laws and thought those who protested that were ungrateful. I question you this, why is that our own sitting senator Tim Scott was pulled over 7 times in one year? Why is it necessary that acts such as the First Step Act and the Fair Sentencing Act was put into place, one of which our president considers as one of his biggest accomplishments. Why is that black people are more likely to go to jail 3 to 4 times for doing marijuana when it's been proven that their white counterparts actually participate in it just as likely if not more. You mix in job discrimination, education discrimination and housing discrimination on top of the biases in the judicial system and you still wonder why people feel neglected in this country. The system isn't fair and it targets some groups and people are sick and tired of it. The least one can do listen, even if you don't agree with their stance. As shocking as it may seem some people do have real life experiences that encourage their beliefs that's not tied to the media.Sitting or kneeling for the anthem says you are inheritly in the belief that this country is a racist nation and treats minorities unequally. They have been fed a media story which is still broadcast over 90% of TV and internet social media. They think all police get up in the morning wondering who they are going to shoot or harass. This is ridiculous and the FBI stats show that. Have these girls been mistreated or harassed because of their race? Or do they think everyone else has? They have been taken down a road of a political action group that wants the present republic to go away and have socialism. No nuclear family, no religion, just their leaders in charge with them reaping the power and money.
I think it is whole lot of nothing and a reason why I think all of these protests should quietly end. There is no protest when either you are too scared to accept the blowback or throw together a message that is not true to placate the majority while giving a nod to the protests. I wouldn't wear the patch because the idea of unity, while noble, is just not true. It is sort of like the canned messages on the back of NBA jerseys during the playoffs where Lebron James just said, "that's alright, I will just wear my name on my jersey". I am not saying the players should protest or not. However, you never, in an effective protest, start letting people that may oppose you put their hands on it.A show of unity and promotion without being offensive and crass?!? What a novel idea! And one that will likely actually garner support.

.....and you are still responding. It must be a sad existence to get triggered by any little thing I or any other black person does. My posts and the protests for that matter are not about you.Days later, you are still at it i see.
He was referring to the school that he attended thus the correct reference was his alma mater.

Ok, peace, not worth arguing over. Fwiw, I played Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner at my high school senior talent assembly in 1972, and the administration didn't have any problem with it.Yes you are absolutely right about your Lennon backlash .. I’ll give you that . However there’s no way you can deny what I stated in my post . It’s just the truth plain and simple . I salute you as a working musician because you know it’s a brotherhood and I respect your grind but nothing I said is not the Truth . That’s not up for debate . Also I’ve supported my family put a kid thru college and paid my house off playing music so i guess that’s pretty good for a “fanboy” .
Let them have her I can’t except that BS. For nobody. It is amazing how people will flip on someone when they don’t do everything in lock step with their views. Just 2-3 years ago, Dawn was the only person in sports who got it when she was about the only athletic coach who would dare take her team the White House. How was she thanked for that? Our National Championship team didn’t even get an invitation. I didn’t agree with Dawn’s view on the White House issue. However, I respected her leadership and vision for the program enough to ride with whatever decisions she chose to make. We don’t know all the particulars of this anthem protest, but Dawn has earned that respect to ride with her vision of the program. If we can’t do that, someone else will in about 15 minutes.
Btw, kudos for building your life on music, that’s living the dream. My hats off to you.Yes you are absolutely right about your Lennon backlash .. I’ll give you that . No thanks I’ll sit this one out...pun intended.Probably not a good time to mention it, but you can support the ladies by joining the Hive. You get lots of neat stuff. $100 gets you a Hive tshirt and team info. No one can argue that is USCs most successful program.
X’s 1000, how a military man like Caslen puts up with this is beyond me. These teams are supposed to represent us. This is my Alma mater.
.....and you are still responding. It must be a sad existence to get triggered by any little thing I or any other black person does. My posts and the protests for that matter are not about you.
No, they are not about you. That is what I tell people all the time. Stop internalizing everything and thinking every issue concerning race is about you. I have seen several posts about Black criminality on here. Didn’t respond because they aren’t talking about me. So, hopefully everything about racism is not about you.So they are not about me. Who are they about then, just others? You make no sense because, once again, there are no specifics behind the entire thing.
