Did the Duke team and their coach walk off the floor last night without shaking hands (etc) with the Lady Gamecocks and Staley?

I noticed the Duke players kept closely pressing/guarding the USC players with only seconds remaining and the game well out of hand.

The same thing happened at the USC-Clemson womens game. At the end of the game the coach for Clemson
waved at Dawn Staley and her team and the Clemson womens team walked to the locker room without shaking hands. Yes this is what you call sore losers. Seems to be the norm in today's society. This attitude came from the coach at Duke Kara Lawson, who has always had this kind of sore loser attitude.

On the surface, it appears that way but I believe there are some places and teams that still wont do it for Covid reasons. I see alot that just wave anymore and move on and has nothing to do with poor losers. There is no hard line that you cant shake hands but it seems some teams do and some dont and I believe the coaches are aware of it before the game starts so they know to go ahead and wave. Dawn and Lawson are pretty good friends so they would not do that to each other.

I think that's the reason.

I noticed that too that the Duke coach and players just walked off the court. What really ticked me off was the bias the announcers had favoring Duke.
I was only able to catch the last 5 minutes of the game. The announcers didn't strike me as particularly Dook-biased, but then again, it was carried by the ACC Network, sponsored by a conference we foolishly abandoned over 50 years ago.

And yeah, the players were kind of chippy, and it seemed to make no sense to me dragging out the last 30 seconds of the game the way they did..

It's strange to see players and refs wearing masks, pulling them down, putting them back up. Basically, useless. As proven, the only effective one is an N95 untouched one.
Yea this one baffles me, particularly when a ref will pull it down to speak, thus projecting particles from their mouth while the mask is down yet when they aren’t talking and presumably their mouth is closed, the mask is up.

Yes, that's the reason. I noticed in the South Dakota game, Dawn waved to their coach; however, SD's coach came toward her and Dawn had a look like "Oh, Ok." The teams went through the "hand shake line" afterwards, but it was clear that Dawn would have prefer not to. She wasn't going to disrespect South Dakota by refusing to do it, however.

Duke U is, of course, very different than SD; No one could even enter with the facility without proof of vac. So, yeah, the coaches probably spoke beforehand to avoid any awkwardness.

I'm not making a judgment either way on what's proper, but I don't think it's a question of sportsmanship though.

n-95s have to be fit tested, as well. If you have gained or lost weight, had oral surgery or in the case of a male, have not shaved. they lose their efficacy. This mask thing is a joke. Truly unbelievable this country has let this go on! What is even worse, the CDC and NIH have promoted it knowing it is a joke.

In that game, I think CDS was under the impression that SD was still under the same kind of guidelines as the ACC schools. I don't think it was that CDS preferred not to at all.

With all the different rules state by state and conference by conference, we can't expect CDS to know all the protocols. It's reasonable for her to take the lead from the hosting coach, as in this instance.

The big thing for me was at least Zia Cooke got her worst game out the way there and we still won. Now hopefully she will be lights out against Stanford, especially if Henderson is still not back. That game will be really hard to win without Henderson the way we have been controlling the ball, or not controlling lately. Amihere looked great at point against Kansas St but looked really subpar last night. She needs to speed up her decision making because they hounded her hard when she hesitated. Against Kansas St she seemed to be in a groove with passing and controlling but not so much last two games.

OK. Players spend the whole game touching each other, leaning against each other, breathing on each other, all handling the same ball. Then they can't touch hands after the game as a show of sportsmanship? Yep, this make a lot of sense.
Don't forget sweating on each other. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat's right. Talk about an inane and contradictory practice, this is it.

Wearing a mask to reduce the spread of COVID is a joke?

Covid protocol sounds right. DS and Lawson have played and coached together so they have a history. Good or bad I don’t know?? However there were 4 timeouts called in the last 26 seconds of an 11 point already too long game.

Generally that signals that one or both coaches has an issue with the other. But who knows? Maybe Lawson was using them to coach end of game scenarios against live competition.

They are in each other’s faces playing basketball all night….. then can’t line up and to can’t shake hands cause of covid. Makes sense!

Anti cock I suggest you do your homework before you make a comment about someone foolishly abandoning a conference. Yes I remember Clemson and Maryland were supposed to join us but they took the role of a coward and backed out. Maryland finally got smart and joined the big 10 within the last few years. Best move Carolina ever made leaving those fools who kiss the North Carolina schools rear end. Yes Clemson is known for that being a rear end kisser.

I did my homework years ago. I remember the antagonism. I remember in the 1970s watching exciting ACC basketball games on TV and us no longer being a part of it.😥 I'd rather play Wake Forest any day than Fredonia State.

No. Neither Clemron nor Maryland were supposed to "join us". Urban Legend. First I've heard of Maryland added to the legend. Regardless, both Clemron and Maryland wisely waited to see how all of this GPA/SAT stuff played out, and they were rewarded for their patience, while we suffered for decades by making a hasty, foolish decision.

By the time the Terps left the league, less the 1/3 of the members were from NC; 50% were at our departure.
Other than WBB, Maryland athletic teams have either stayed pretty much the same or taken a downward turn. They left for the money, plain and simple.

Actually, what I'll do is repeat my statement that USC took far too long to separate the position of Athletic Director and head coach of a sport at the school.

Notwithstanding that in today's world there's not enough hours in the day to perform both jobs, a separation would likely have minimized the aforementioned backstabbing.
